About

Digital Indy is looking for help in transcribing various documents dating from 1975-2010, but primarily from the 1980s and 1990s from the Heron-Morton Place Neighborhood Association digital collection.

The Herron-Morton Place Neighborhood Association began with a focus on restoration and preservation as part of the larger urban renewal movement in the city of Indianapolis. Later annual events like the Talbott Art Fair and Home and Garden Tours would show the expanding scope of association activities. A notable success came in 1983, when the neighborhood was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The neighborhood boundaries are 22nd St, Central Ave, E 16th St and N Pennsylvania St. The collection consists of newsletters, board and membership meeting minutes, correspondence, event promotions, photos, and materials from organizations like the Department of Metropolitan Development, King Park Area Development Corporation, and Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission.
