A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City
of Kingston was held this day. Present
His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Carson, Clements, Drennan, Dunn,
Eilbeck, Gildersleeve, Harty, Hiscock
McIntyre, McKay, O'Brien, Redden, Robinson
Shannon, Thompson, J. Wilson
The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting
A Communication from R. H. Buchanan & Co was read
respecting furnishing Hydrants - Referred to the Committee
on Fire, Water and Gas
A Communication from Messrs Walkem & Walkem was
read asking what was done Re Mrs. McGill Union street
A Communicatiin from Dr. Dorenwood was read
Re Transient Traders License - Referred to the Committee on
Licenses
A Communication from Messrs J. Muckleston & Co
read asking for a rebate on Taxes
On motion of Ald. McIntyre seconded by Ald. Clements
Ordered, That the Communication of J. Muckleston
& Co be referred to the Committee on Finance and accounts
to report
Sundry petitions respecting Taxes were submitted
and referred to the Court of Revision
Ald. Shannon brought up the petition of William Snowden
and 64 others praying for the widening of Young street
Ald. W. Wilson here entered
The petition of William Snowden and 64 others were referred to the Committee on Streets.
Ald. O'Brien brought up the petition of William
McKenny and 8 others praying for a Lamp or Light on
the South East Corner of John and Division streets - Referred
to the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas
On motion of Ald. McIntyre seconded by Ald. J. Wilson
Ordered, That His Worship the Mayor be requested
to appoint an Arbitrator as to the property between Brock and
Johnston streets, under the By Law recently passed for the
opening up of Sydenham street
