A Special Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City
of Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor

Aldermen

Drennan, Downing, Gildersleeve, Harty, Swift
Phelan, Redden, Rees, C. Robinson, W. Robinson
Shannon, Smith, Snowden, Thompson, Wilmot
Wilson

The Mayor stated the meeting was called to take up
and consider Budget for the year and other business

A Communication from Messrs Kirkpatrick and Rogers
was read. Re relinquishing Water Works. Referred to
the Select Committee on Water Works

Ald. Drennan brought up the petition of William
Newlands Jr and A. W. Garrott M. D. and the Messrs Smith
Brothers asking for a Water supply in their houses now
in the course of erection.

Ald. Thompson moves seconded by Ald. C. Robinson

That the name of Ald. Rees be substituted for that of
Ald. Thompson on the Water Works Committee appointed at
the last meeting of the Council - which being put was [underline]lost[/underline]

The Council went into Committee of the whole on the
Budget (Report No 477 Book F.)

Ald. Wilmot in the Chair

The Council resumed

The Committee rose and the Chairman reported
[in left margin: M.F.] the [strikeout]second[/strikeout] reading of the Budget clause by as amended
by the following resolutions

On motion of Ald. Drennan seconded by Ald. Wilson

Ordered, That the salary of John Wright be
$600.00 per annum

On motion of Ald. Thompson seconded by Ald. Wilson

Ordered, That the sum of Two hundred and ten
dollars for Portrait of Ex Mayor be struck out of Budget

Ald. Gildersleeve moves seconded by Ald. [strikeout]C. Robinson[/strikeout] Downing

That the Report of the Committee On Finance
and accounts containing the Estimates for the present year
as amended be received and adopted

In amendment

Ald. Thompson moves seconded by Ald. C. Robinson

That the following Item be struck out of the Budget

"For Collection of Sewer & Watering street Taxes" which
being put was [underline]carried[/underline]
