TUE 6/4-SUN 6/9

VERY BUSY SHOPPING WEEK. CHINAWARE:

Shopped at Fredericks several days and at Bon and some place in Pioneer Square. Bought Noratake Cafe De Soir, very "New Deco," but I didn't feel comfortable with it at home. It's too white and the dark grey border didn't work with the green seat cushions. So I returned that had bought Lenox Chinastone. It's stoneware but it look like Lenox China. It's even translucent, like bone china. And it's Lenox off-white which is like a cream which works well with green. Pattern has green + orange blossoms. I also bought cream colored place mats and napkins. And I took my cutlery into Fredericks to identify. It's Oneida Independence. Great for everyday use and it costs $16.50 per setting.

So at this point I just need to buy second 20-piece china set and accessories and buy serving set of stainless wave.

Also I looked at silver and stainless serving trays for marble table but the sure scratch easily. NO GO.

And I decided that I've got enough glassware for the time being.

English + Germans prefer white: Wedgewood, Hetchenreuter, Villeroy. Americans prefer off white. Lenox is made in America. Mikasa looks so cheap. Dansk costs too much.

CARPET for dining room.

I decided I can't use wall to wall. It would just look so cheap. But do I want to spend $1800? Maybe I can get Persian/Turkish, but they're so ornate and busy...or maybe a simple wool rug, but that would cost $1000 at least.

So I look at all my old haunts for rugs, Chinese style. Fredericks is still to expensive. Nothing at Oriental Gallery. Saw a couple at Golden Horn. Had them delivered yesterday. They left peach one. Its subtle and goes well with green of the seat cushions.
