June 9, 1958

Dear Mother & Daddy,

Eileen is thriving beautifully.
We're having quite a time convincing
everyone that just because
she is our first, we're not tossing
up our hands in helpless dismay.
Thanks to all those people who
paid me to sit with their 2 mo.
to 12 yr. old babies, I feel that
basic training has left me well-
prepared. Jim has had a liberal
hand in raising his nieces &
nephews, so we are well satisfied
& not the least bit anxious
about her.

My upper deck resembles
one of those exaggerated calendars
found in places of all-male
employment. Eileen is well
