My dearest Auntie Stan-

I was so sorry to see in
last Wednesday's paper of
our dear Senator's death.
Although he has been so ill
for some time you could not
have expected his death so
suddenly and the shock
must have been terrible to
you as it was to all those
who loved and revered
him for his goodness &
generosity to all arround him -
I will always be happy
that I saw him in Chicago -
But auntie dear you must
not give way under this
great sorrow for you have
a great work before you
going on with what our dear
Governor left in your hands
carrying out his plans as only
you could - and remember
you have still many many
friends who love you dearly
and hope you will bear
up in your sorrow on there
account - Then auntie dear
