Adopted and On motion of Councilman Furth the City Attorney is directed to submit an ordinance authorizing the issue of bonds for the purpose of constructing the Beach Road Bridge Licenses Ordered Issued Oliver Bernard Retail Intox 3 months from June 27 The vote upon issuing said license is as follows: In favor of same Calligan, Furth, Hall, Harrington Lake, McDonald & Young. Against none. Applications for License Referred E J Powers & Co, Jo Francisco, Frank Wilton, Davidson & Morgan, Jacob Bersch, Mrs John Osborne, John Brannan, John Collins and J Armstrong Claims Allowed The following claims aginst the City having been duly audited and allowed by the Council are ordered paid by warrants drawn as follows to wit: Gardner Kellogg No 852 Fire Fund $75.00 Salary Chief G Kellogg & Co No 853 Fire Fund $7.oo Supplies No2 Miscellaneous On motion of Councilman Furth it is declared the sense of the Council that a Fire Alarm system be established in the City and the matter is referred to the Committee on Fire and Water on motion of Councilman Hall

29 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jun 14 1886 Councilman Lake submits a proposal of the Gutta Percha & Rubber Mfg Co for furnishing the City a new hose cart. On motion the matter is referred to the Committee on Fire & Water. The City Surveyor submits plans and specifications for Beach Road Bridge which are adopted and on motion the Clerk is directed to advertise for bids for the Construction of the same, said bid to be filed on or before 4 o'clock pm June 25th 1886 each of said bids to be accompanied by a certifired check for $1000. The mayor approved G W Hall a member of the Jusdiciary Committee in place of John Keenen absent from the City. Ordinances The City Attorney submits an ordinance entitled "An ordinance to locate and establish a Public Street extending from the intersection of Eighth & Plummer Streets to the intersection of Grant and Hinds Streets in the City of Seattle" which afterr due consideration is adopted by the following vote: In favor of said ordinance Calligan, Furth, Hall, Harrington Lake, McDonald and Young. Against none An ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An ordinance to Vacate a portion of Tenth Street in Judkins Addition to the City of Seattle" which is passed by the following vote: In favor of the same Calligan, Furth, Hall, Harrington, Lake, McDonald and Young. Against none The Clerk submits an ordinance entitled "A special ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills" which is adopted passed by the following vote: Ayes Calligan, Furth, Hall, Harrington, Lake, McDonald and Young. 37 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jun 26 1886 Be it remembered that on this the 26th day of June 1886 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment: Present, Mayor Yesler and Councilmen J Furth,R H Calligan, Geo Hall, W A Harrington, Chas McDonald and G W Young & J J Post the minutes of the last meeting were read and approved and the following preceedings are had to wit: On motion the the action of petition of Mrs John Osborn for a retail Malt license is reconsidered and the same referred to the Com on License and Revenue. On motion of Councilman J Furth the contract for building the Beach Road Bridge is awarded to A W Burrell for $21,800.00 and the city Attorney ordered to draw and submit an ordinance authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to execute a contract with A W Burrell for building the Beach Road Bridge and it is further ordered that a bond in the sum of $5000.00 be required of the said A W Burrell for the faithful fulfillment of his contract. On motion it is ordered that R H Thomson be and he is hereby appointed engineer and superintendnet of construction of the Beach Road Bridge at a salary of $4.00 per day and an allowance of $50.00 for the use of instruments; and the City Atty directed to submit an ordinance appointing said R H Thomson such engineer superintendent.
