R W McDaniel 69 cents per lamp per month J J Sullivan 60 cents per lamp per month J C Killen 60 cents per lamp per month J Clancy 49 cents per lamp per month J Harrison 50 cents per lamp per month A C Turner 80 cents per lamp per month M Murphy 60 cents per lamp per month B J Allen $60.00 per month G A Tyler $55.00 per month Bids for lighting the streets of the City are rec'd from Seattle Electric Light Co Seattle Gas Light Co Ordered that the consideration of bids for Street Lighting & Care of Street Lamps be postponed until Monday Aug 23d at 8 o'clock PM Miscellaneous Ordered that the purchasing agent be and he is hereby instructed to purchase sufficient sewer pipe to extend the Union St sewer to Eighth St On moton the Chief of Police is instructed to look up missing City Property & report to the Council

77 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 23 1886 On motion of Councilman Reitze it is ordered that a contract for lighting the Public Streets of Seattle be awarded to the Seattle Electric Light Co and that Electric light equal to 5 fast gas burners according to the proposals on file by contracted for and that a contract be executed with the Seattle Electric Light Co upon the delivery of a bond in the sum of $10,000.00 to light said streets on the first day of September 1886; and that a further bond in the sum of $10,000.00 be entered into by said Electric Light Co. for the faithful performance of such contract for one year. On motion the City Attorney is ordered to draw up a contract with the Seattle Electric Light Co for lighting the streets of the City for the ensuing year. An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to execute a certain contract" which is passed by the following vote; In favor of said ordinance Coulter, Frink, Green, Hinckley, Lake, Russell and Reitze. 97 COMMON COUNCIL OF THECITY OF SEATTLE Oct 5 1886 other nomination on motion the Clerk is instructed to cast the ballot of the Council for said A H Manning which being done, the said Manning declared duly elected a police officer of the City of Seattle Petitions etc Petition of I N Bigelow et al for a plank crossing onPine Street West side of 3rd Street Refrred to Street Commitee Petition of I N Bigelow et al for a Street Light corner of 3d and Pine Street Referred to Street Light Commitee Committee Reports Received FromCommittee on Street Lights to whom was referred the petitionfo O J Carr et al praying the Council to order 32 candle power lamps placed on all street lamps and also on all extensions ordered during the year reproting that after careful consideration they find that upon the faithful performance of the obligation of the Seattle Electric Light Co in the City is sufficient for any and all purpose and therefore recommend that the petition be not granted. On motion of Councilman Lake the report of the Committee is adopted by a unanimous vote.
