97 Columbia Jan. 7th 1895 The town council met at the Town Hall. Mayor Hutcheson presiding. Roll call and the following councilmen present McKay Groat & Calder The minutes of the last meeting read and on motion approved. The park committee report that the papers have been filed for the suit against the park. The treasurers report for the last quarter read and on motion accepted and placed on file. The Clerk's report for the last quarter read and on motion accepted and ordered placed on file. The Marshall report for the year read and on motion accepted and ordered placed on file. The Police Justice report for the year read and on motion accepted and ordered placed on file. The following bills were read and on motion warrants drawn for payment of same. Bill from Joseph Hellenthal for work removing tree from public highway .75¢ Bill from Joseph Hellenthal for servises as inspector of election $5.00 Bill from A H Hepler for servises as Clerk of election. $4.50 Bill from J C Huff for servases as Clerk of election. $4.50 Bill from Thad Osgood for servases as Judge of election $4.50 Bill from W.R. Hadlock for servases as Judge of election $4.50 A petition was read from the Columbia Athletic Club request on the use of the Town Hall for Tuesday and Saturday nights they to furnish wood and lights and on motion the same was granted. The question of paying the tax assessment against the Columbia Water work discussed and the attorney recommended the council not to pay the same

144 Columbia Feby 4th 1895 The Town Council met persuant to adjournment Mayor Pierson presiding Roll Call and the followingCouncilmen present; McKay, Groat & Almquist The minutes of the last meeting read and on motion approved. A communication from Fred H Peterson in reference to the suit to reclaim the land known as Park read and on motion ordered placed on file and on motion the Park Committee discharged from further service. Report from the Marshal Brown reand and on motion accepted and ordered placed on file. A petition from Rainier Lodge #184 I O G P read asking for better protection of their property and on motion the same was ordered placed on file. and a committee of one appointed to inform the members of the Columbia Athletic Club that unless better usuage of the Hall and contents is maintained they will be refused the use of same. Ordinance #50 fixing the bonds and the compensation of the Officers of the Town of Columbia read and on motion passed by the Council and approved by the Mayor. Ordinance #51 defining the duties of the City Attorney and fixing his compensation read and on motion passed by the Council and approved by the Mayor The folllowing standing committees are appointed by the Mayor. On Water Councilmen Calder, Groat and Almquist On Streets and Alleys, Almquist, Chase and McKay On Finance, McKay, Groat & Chase On Health, Groat, Calder & Chase On Public Buildings and Wharves, Chase, McKay and Calder Bill from D C Brown for salary for the month of January as Marshal $8.33 read and on motion the same was ordered paid.

104 Columbia Feby 9, 1895 Town Council met persuant to adjournment. Mayor Pierson presiding Roll call and the following councilen present. Groat, McKay & Almquist The Reading of the minutes of the last meeting postponed until next meeting Mayor Pierson reported the return of a warrant issued to Fred H Peterson for$100.00 and the same was turned over to the Clerk and ordered marked void. Councilman McKay reported that he had seen the officers of the Columbia Athletic Club and that they have promised to take proper care of the Town Hall and contents, The City Attorney reported on the standing of the surities on the bonds of the Treasurer, and Marshal, Police Justice, Attorney and Clerk and on motion the Committee givenfurther time to make final report. The bonds of the Attorney read and on motion laid on the table until next meeting The Auditing Committee granted extension of time to make their report. On motion the committee on Public Buildings & Wharves; instructed to secure lamps and stoves for the Town Hall. The I O G P having given notice that they should remove theirs. On motion the committee on Health is charged and a committee consisting of Councilmen Groat, Calder and Chase appointed called the Board of Helath. On motion councilman McKay granted three months leaf of absence. On motion Marshal Huff ordered to take his office Motionmade and carried to adjourn to next Friday Feby 15 at 7:30 P M at the Town Hall B R Shaw townclerk Approved Feb 15th V R Peirson
