Professor Joseph I Lowry Chairman of the LH Board Washington DC

Sir,

I have the honor to report my return to this office from Yaquina Bay after continuing with your instruction of November 12th 1873. therefore be necessary to land the supplies at Yaquina Bay to guard against any unnecessary risks, I have examined the channel and directed the Light-Keeper at that station to place range poles on certain points on shore to mark the channel in crossing the bar, hereafter I think the Tender will be able to enter that place without any difficulty where she can land supplies and replace the necessary buoys. Very Respectfully, Your obedient Servant JH Spotts Com. USW Inspector

Subject:

The Light-House Board, Washington, D. C.

Sirs:

Referring to the Board's letter of the 15th. instant regarding the statement in the case of the Second Assistant Keeper Harry S. Littlefield of Yaquina Head Light Station.

I have to state that the Keeper informed me at the time of my inspection of that Station that Littlefield was physically unable to perform his duties. Littlefield told me that the Keeper's statement was true, that he found it difficult to perform his duties, and that he wished to resign.

His resignation was forwarded to the Board on the 18 August, '98, the acceptance of which I recommended.

Respectfully,

signature???

Commander, U. S. N., Light-house Inspector.
