It lasts until 10:45 and then I walk a couple of blocks to 11:00 mass at St. Ann's. A very convenient 5 bucks. My buddy who got me the bill-collecting job got this one for me.

Pam is just about ready to be censured. I'm sitting with the Tues. afternoon Terrors, Pam and Peter. I let her play with the hose, and after changing their already dirty clothes once, things were wet but peaceful until she decided to give the living-room the once-over wetly. I am now even more thoroughly convinced that cork tile is ideal. Anyway, the backyard will be nice and green. The drapes will dry too. These Eichler homes can really take it. At the moment, they're polishing off the last quart of milk.

Are you still having attacks of [Meniere's?] disease? I assume not, if you are able to fall off bar stools again, and come up laughing. If it's recurrent, as it says in the article, I assume that you don't do a great deal of driving. It's a shame that they don't have nice bars down there like they have up here. Of course, there's only one Rudy's. Liz hadn't been off her cane for a week when her two bartenders went out and got themselves hospitalized in a motorcycle accident. They moved one of the fellows from San Jose to the Pally hospital last Fri. The road from Rudy's to that hospital looks to be a well worn one. He'll be there for months.

I'm glad you're feeling well enough to send me cartoon and napkins from the Chi-Chi. My love to Daddy, Grandmother, Cookie and Destiny. Love, Marcia

Tues.

Dear Mother,

Thanks for your call last night. I'd been meaning to write you, but every night that I come home to settle down & write a letter or something, someone comes over to talk or be fed. I can always tell when someone is coming over, if I feel like coming home from work & taking a nap.

Pardon the pencil, but that pen was impossible. I'm up at the shop, tonite, watching future speed records being invented. Your last letter was very much appreciated, as also were the enclosures, all of them.

As Paula says, our place is "really shaping" I put most of the landlady's little pink - nicks in a box in the shed. I would have removed more, but it would have left a lot of bare nails on the wall. On several occasions, Paula has severely exhausted herself doing the dusting & wiping up the kitchen. She does such loads of dishes up at Rudy's, that the dab that constitutes a sinkful in our kitchen is nothing. She loves to mop, so she mops the linoleum floor in my room & I vacum the rug in hers.

Jim just put his motorcycle together & is breaking it in, so on Sundays & nonworking hours, we go riding to put miles on it.

Dear Mother,

Now don't go & get spoiled because I'm writing you again so soon, but could you please find me a bra, a nylon, lace-cup Maiden form Prelude, 34B. Today I hit every store in Palo Alto, & they either don't stock them or they're out. I only want one, & only that particular kind no experimental models, please. Also, while we're on requests, could you please pick me up some more B12, & some Codene Empirin #3's. I'm out. No hurry, of course, just you know how it is with us hop-heads mum - !!!

Today I got a letter from the landlady, asking us to be nice to a girl who she has engaged to sell the house for her. Paula & I are really going to stall on that lease, now. The old girl is asking $17 thousand for the old fire-trop. Can you imagine?!

I wore the white sweater to Rudy's the other night. Now, Rudy's isn't a pool hall, but as far as that expression that you use all the time goes ---- it was "favorably received." That really is a goodie. You did a beautiful job. It's nizzzze!!

Today I ran into Gary in Palo Alto, & there we ran into his friend, John, whose apartment I lived in while he was in Sun Valley last Spring vacation. I had them up for a drink before dinner, thus
