Seattle Wash 1889 To the Honerable Mayor and City Council of the City of Seattle We, the undersigned, residents and property holders along the streets herein-after named, respectfully petition your Honorable Body, that provision be made for the proper placing of sewers upon Fourth Street, between Vine and Willburn Streets (recently called Cedar Street), and on Willburn and Willow Streets to Mercer Street, and from thence to some propert out-let. And, also, for the placing of fire-hydrant at the junction of Willow and Depot Streets And your Petitioners further represent, that the District aforesaid is entirely without sewerage, and that want thereof threatens the health of the community. MR. PRESIDENT:

Your Committee on City Light to whom was referred a Petition to Light Harvard and Villard streets between Depot and 4th Street, recommend that 3 incandescent lights be placed as follows.

One 30 candle power lamp at the Point of Junction between the Nagle and Pontius additions at the north end of the Little Circular Park on the west side of Harvard street, another at the intersection of Chester and Villard streets, and one on May and Villard streets to be located at such points as are described in the Petition.

The undersigned, citizens and taxpayers of the City of Seattle respectfully petition your honorable body to erect and maintain electric arc lights at the following places on the streets of this city, to wit

Your petitioners deeming said lights necessary to the comfort and convenience of the citizens of this city. And your petitioners will ever pray etc.

COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE

And now the Council proceeds to consider Ordinance No 269, the same being entitled as follows, towit; - "An Ordinance to amend Section five of an ordinance entitled 'Ordinance No 129, relating to Fire Warden his powers and duties.'"

After due consideration said ordinance is adopted by the following vote, towit; In favor of adoption, Thomas Clancy, John Collins, Wm. A. Jennings, M. Densmore, John Keenan, Moses Keezer and Charles McDonald. Against adoption, none.

Ordered that the Ordinance Committee be and they are hereby instructed to submit an ordinance to provide for the construction of a sidewalk on the South side of Washington Street from Second Street and to Fourth Street.

Ordered that the Council now stand adjourned.

Be it remembered that on this the 5th day of May A.D. 1882, the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets pursuant to law.

The following officers are present, towit; His Honor the Mayor L. P. Smith and councilmen due consideration said ordinance by the following vote. In favor Thomas Clancy, John Collins, Wm. A. Jennings, John Keenan and Charles McDonald.

Thereupon the following proceedings are had.

A petition is received from R.S. Green et al praying for the opening and widening of the extension of Madison Street, and the same in grading.

Heaeth Officer, Dr E.L. Smith submits the following report which is received and ordered placed on file.
