111 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug18/82 Be it remembered that on this the 18th day of August 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment of August 11, 1882 The following Officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor H G Struve and Councilmen Charles F Clancy, O F Cosper, Fred Gasch, Charles McDonald, and U M Rasin Thereupon the following proceedings are had; A petition is received from H E Herndon for the allowance of $21.00 on account of sidewalk constructed on Jackson Street; thereupon the same is referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvement A petition is received from D M Crane et al for the opening of the alley through Block 19 of Boren's plat; thereupon the same is referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. A petition is received from the Columbia and Puget Sound R R Co. for a reduction on their assessment for and on account of the Jackson Street sidewalk, thereupon the same is referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. A communication is received from His Honor the Mayor with reference to Ordinance No 157; thereupon the Communication is referred to the Judiciary and Legislative Committee with instructions to submit an ordinance fixing the license of Peddlers at $200 per year and that no license be issued for a shorter period than 3 months. And now the Committee on Public Buildings, Property and Grounds make their report upon the petition of W W Holcomb et al and recommend that all records of the City Cemetary be referred to same Committee for revision thereupon the report is accepted and the matter referring to the Cemetary are referred to the said Committee on Public Buildings Property and Grounds. And no the Finance Committee make their report upon the petition of Framenthal Bros for the remitting of 10 percent upon delinquent taxes due for and on account of Jasckson Street sidewalk (recommending that the petition

From Roswell Scott et al for an Ordinance prohibiting the wearing of bells on animals. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements From M Densmore et al for an Ordinance changing the Grade on Union Street from Front Street to8th Street and to have Union Street u-graded. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Impr -ovements. From Robert Kaupe et al for an Ordinance to construct side walks on both sides of Union Street from Front Street to the East side of Eighth Street. Referred to the Committee on Street and Street Improvement. From Geo Harlip for the right to erect a fish stand. Referred to the Committee on Streets And Street Imrpovements From W.R. Brawley et al for the opening of Washington Street from 10th to 11th Street, and for the opening of 11th Street from Washington Street to Main Street. From Health and Police on Communication ffrom the Chief of Police recommending that an additional Policeman be appointed, Adopted From Streets and Street Improvements, on petition of D M Crane et al for opening the alley through Block 19 of Boren's plat, recommending that the petition be deniel. Adopted and petition denied From Streets and Street Improvements, on petition of H E Herndon for a set off of $21.00 against revenue & tax for Jackson Street sidewalk, recommending the granting of said petition.
