3rd Augt 1850 while we were gone to Lynchg Our folks finished weeding corn in Lot choped out new ground, done up some fencing & then went to cutting in new ground

-8th. This week we have been Halling Rails Hilling up our second yrs Land Tobacco & it has Rained nearly every day this week ground very wet., clear this morning weather remarkably hot. & Rains generally from North East. Thunder cloudy, — worked, cutting Halling Rails & shrubing fresh field.

12th cloudy this morning, choping in new ground Fed Toping at new ground - Henry & Jane Plowing Lot Tobacco back of Garden, –

13th worming over Tobacco clear warm weather

14th Plowed & Hilled up little second yrs ^Tobaccoground

16 Went to Mill 1 Bb^l Corn getting up apples

17th Beeting apples for Cider & drying Lilas child a Girl Born this morning about Sun rise, nights cool, weather dry & Hot in day

18th cloudy all day & Rained a little — cool

19th. worming succoring & toping Tobacco — Mr Whiteheads machine came saturday evening broke We have not commenced getting out our ^yet wheat

20 Getting up apples & Baling Sewed little Hog pen in Turnips — by spring —

21 Machining wheat had David & John neal A Crews & son abram Mrs Colemans Kit & James

22. Finished my own by 12 Oclock & then got out Mr Neals & moved the machine

23rd worming new ground Tobacco & choping it over this day — — A Fine rain this evening —

24 Rained a little last night, fine weather Mr Dan^l Johns has been sick at Mr Lewis for some time & Died the 22nd in night —

1851 Janry 13th Burning Plant Bed by new ground next to Mr Neals - my wife gone to Mrs Hunts Fine weather about this time ———

14th Burnt Plant Bed at House & sewed it Kentucky Bull face Tobacco seed & white mustard seed sewed - in that one The one below new ground Big Brittle [Glen?] & Mr McCullocks sort mustard also same sort Tobacco seed sewed on mountain Fine weather this day going to have Land surveyed for W^m Waller ——^failure

15 went to Dan^l Johns Sale bot 5 Boxes wafers 1 stretcher 1 wheat sieve 1 whip 2 slates

20th been cutting in new ground waggon & Cart Halled wood saturday, Thursday & friday— Plowed Tobacco Lot etc nearly done grubbing Henry sick in House with Jaw ach

24 Sold to John D Hunt a Tract of Land adjoining him containing 195 acres more or less for $600 payable in 1, 2 & 3 years from this day $200 in each paym^t & carriage & Harness cover & Rench[wrench] etc. for said land rating the carriage & Harness at $190 making $790 for the land 195 acres more less right to be made & Bond given shortly as pr Rec^d given him for $1 in p^t of D^o pr Rec^t———cutting & Plowing etc etc

27 As pretty weather as I ever saw this time in year Plowing & Cutting in new^ground

28th Tooke down some Tobacco in Prize House tho not much cleared of windy & Cool this morning

29th quite cool windy weather cutting & Plowing

30 cant Plow waggon & cart Halling wood, cutting^{in new ground} Tremendous cool at this time & windy—

31 still cold Halling Rails around mountain field & fresh field this day Lila breaking flax cutting in new ground overseer broke his axis

Feby 1st very cold weather, cutting in new ground Henry Halling Rails & wood Fed gone to mill 1½ Bbls wheat for us ½ Bbl for flour ½ Bbl Corn for us & ½ Bbl for overseer

1857 Oct 30 Sewing wheat fixing Hog pen Halling wood & stalks - I went to Court & gave my Deposition Gratsys adm. against Dan^l Johns adm or Exer I charged 1.30 or 1.50 for going there this day which they have got to pay —

31st Sewing wheat fanning wheat this morning Mr Hiram wyatt at ^work with Henry Laying floor of weaving House,- & fixing Door etc fine weather, - Jordan Bushing in wheat sewed in all to this day 22 Bushels in fresh field

Novr 1st Sunday went to see Mr Worsham — 2nd Mr H. Wyatt & Henry finished weaving house — Fed shoemaking, cleaning out stables Raking & Halling leaves to Lot, 3 Plows Plowed up Lot for wheat by old prize barn & finished it ready to sew it now

3rd Sewed 4 Bushels in Lot. & Hitched Netty & she done very well after awhile Plowing Tobacco ground next to Crews & going to sewing there to day - Pulling & Halling

4th corn from mountain Fine weather Put up Our Hogs this ^{up before7. (3.)}morning & several to put up yet.

5th Finished sewing tobacco ground in wheat next to Crews, sewed near 5 Bushels Smooth head White white there. Halled up 4 Loads of Corn to day from mountain & shucked it out at night, Sewing Rye at Crews

6th Sewing Rye at Crews, Halling up Corn from mountain Loads & all choped round stumps & Bushed wheat ground at Crews yesterday - firing Tobacco yesterday & this morning as its warm foggy & Rainy weather, give Jacob 1 pr fine shoes at andersons had his old ones mended gave him one Dollar in cash

7th Housing Corn to day put 20 Barrels new corn House & nearly 10 D^o short Corn in little^House Corn made fine round fodder stacks at mountain
