27 Sent to Mr Lewis to Roll Logs. Cutting old Logs malling etc cloudy & like for falling weather - cold-

28. Taking down Tobacco in prize Barn this morning nearly done malling

March 1st. Broke off warm, first time the sun has shined for several days the moon is full & we have not yet seen it on account of cloudy & dry weather - Finished Our new ground Fence this morning halling wood & about winding up malling We have ⅔ our prize barn Tobacco strip yet =

2 Rolled Log this day did not get

3rd Burning Logs this day. Halled up stack Oats & straw paid Mr Yates for corn

4 still cloudy & cold quite damp all this whole week except one day had 14 in 14 Lambs only 7 alive to this ^day

5 Striping Tobacco – nearly done

6 Striping Tobacco prize barn still cloudy & like for rain or snow cloudy & damp nearly all Feby & March to this day, since Feby court I dont there has been 3 fair days

1850 Decr 23rd Halled Tobacco from fresh ground barn to prize Barn, & Packed it down to strip

234rd Halled leaves till 12 oclock then fixed up cow shelter Rake in up manure & waggon & Cart Halling wood till night Fair & Cool, Killed 8 Hogs yesterday the 23rd 25th Stayed at home myself my wife went to Mrs Hunts

26th went to see Rob^t & Mrs McCullock Grastys Mrs Farmer etc etc as School Commissioner - etc

27 Rode all day as School Comr. & finished

28th Raining this morning moderate weather

29th cleared off cool

30th Halled wood & Cut in new ground Henry has been sick most one week

31st Finished Thursday & friday in Christmas getting last of Indigent children as S. Commissioner Snowed last night & we are striping Tobacco

1851 Janry 1st cleared off cool striping Tobacco that come out of the House the top Blowed off in fresh ground - expect to get done that to day — I went to Mrs Colemans & Yates yesterday to hire Ja^s The Snow is about Two Inches Deep

2nd Sent Fed to mill 5 Bushels wheat for chop 1½ Bbls corn for meal & ½ Bbl for overseer & to get a Bag Cotton at mill

7th Fine weather cutting in ^{snow nearly gone}new ground Halling wood for Mr. Neale ½ day with cart Written to Mr Roach respecting Miss Milly Ann McCullock Land, & wrote a notice forwarning any persons from trespassing on it & offering it for Rent - or lease etc etc Halled Leaves & straw about this time

11 Burning & finishing Plant Bed on ^mountain & sewed it. 19 yds square cutting & pressin= 2 more to barn next week

1851 June 18th- finished Plowing over corn second time here & began to Lay by mountain field this evening

19th Laying by mountain field, weeding down Tobacco in new ground & expect to finished that to day & Lots is also done, & then for fresh ground Very Cool & very dry weather, Cool ever since Monday

20th Finished laying by mountain field & next fresh ground, finished weeding Tobacco this 21st day June 1851 laying by with Plows in Lot by Granary Broke new waggon this morning first time we ever hitched the Horses to it & we sent it back to Mr Lewis Yates, to make a new coupling Pole & finish it. etc.

22nd cloudy & Turned warm my wife gone to St Andrews

23rd A little shower Rain here this night -

24th Replanted a little Tobacco smartly missing none at Mrs McCullocks, cutting wheat expect to finish to day here & at Mrs McCullocks

25 too, Sorry crop tho grain good - weather extremely dry & now Hot - Henry complaining with his rash & Plowing here by House in corn —

26th Sent Poplar Log for waggon & Pine Log for bodies & told Henry to bring back waggon frames for Wyatts & Oak Log to be sawed 4½ Inches by 4½ for Harrows etc etc - 2 Bags Corn Sent This morning 2 Bushels in each Beg & 1 Bag at mill to be bro^tHome clear & warm cleaning Out treading Yard & choping in Corn overseer making cart gate etc

28 Sent another Pine Log to Saw mill got no Plank bro^t back 2 Bags meal weather clear Hot & Dry Hilling up Corn & Plowing ^groundfresh

30 Halling up wheat to day also at Mrs McC Hester got Fistula ^{& had it 2 or 3 weeks} Logan hip shot & Celam swayed inaged [injured?] some how other clear & Dry Choping over fresh ground corn about this time

1851 July 18th Hilling up new ground Tobacco Plowing Lots Tobacco - Dry & Hot

19th Plowing & Hilling up Lots of Tobacco, still Dry & nights Hot went to Mrs McC 18th & to see Hester. Sent Fed to mill 2 Turns of corn for me 1 for overseer & also 3 Bushels wheat for overseer —

20 21 & 22nd Clear & dry & nights a little cool

21st 22nd Plowing & Hilling up fresh ground on mountain Sent new waggon to shop again & Mrs Colmans Iron Going to day to Mrs McC. to grastys & Rice & in the route see about machine at Yates —

23rd Thrashing wheat & finished this day - Joel Hubbard machine — fair & Dry — fixing to Thrash at Mrs McCullocks, Keatts machine

24th going to carry the machine to Crew Miller this morning Fed sick yesterday & done ^{the wheat}nothing in choping in corn - finished Hilling up Tobacco [on?]

28th Halling Rock to build chimny to Henrys House still cloudy & like for Rain, wind Blew hard yesterday Sunday — Malissas child a Girl was Born Thursday morning before day Break say Juste after midnight, on the 24th July 1851.

29th went to Colo Smiths Plantation & to Mrs McCullock a little shower rain after I got home & in the night it rained again Smartly, my ^{the tooth ach}wife got

30 Cloudy & like for more rain, We are Replanting our 2 Lots & fresh ground to day - plants from Capt Fitzgerald quarter

31st Replanting in second yrs ground nearly done will get done soon this morning A Fine Rain last night, & still cloudy J D owen went to Colo Dickinsons to get an overseer place this day

1852 Jany 3rd I went to Mrs McCullocks - halling wood & Cutting began to Plow this week rain 2 Plows 2 days Henry Riving boards one day Striped Tobacco at mountain Barn, I have to Mrs Colemans winding up her business 2 or 3 days. I Bot a saw & 12 Pegs at Mrs Colemans Sale, also several other things 1 oat stack-

4th Jany my wife & Cate gone to Green field to meeting, tolerable cool day tho fair —

7th The 5th at night it snowed 2 or 3 Inches Deep Rained in evening before snow yesterday we striped Out mountain field Barn Tobacco. This morning quite cold. we have not finished our Ice House yet Cutting in new ground this morning all hands Lila Plowed a little monday Jordan & Jacob went to mill 1 Turn wheat & 1 Corn - etc — yesterday about 12 oclock Monroes Peter was Caught as I understand by David Neal

10th Snowed again this morning about 3 or 4 Inches Deep & there has been about 4 snows to this day, - we did not do much Out yesterday Shelled corn Jordan Bro^t from mill 2 turns meal Lila spining Henry & Fed making Brooms after morning, still cloudy & like for Rain ^snowor 11th Decr. 13th very cold^clear cutting in new ground alse Breaking & swingling flax 2 Ewes has Lambs Bot of Mrs Coleman at her Sale 1 Sow & 12 pigs & 5 Bbls corn the 31st Decr 1851
