1860 Feby 4 quite cold I went to Yates shop & to Court there had the case of Wm Yates decided plantif JDH Est cast from Lewis yates evidence that Mr Hunt gave W Yates the Debt, - pd 30/- Cost. Halling wood Cutting & mauling in new ground below House not quite so cold -
5. Nannie & myself went to Fannies & Card Sallie there Board & go to school to Kate at $3½ pr Mo & we do her washing —
6th Halling leaves to day claiborne sawing shingles for well, Rained & Snowed yesterday all night Rained & this morning a little Send down 1 Gobler & 1 Turkey Hen to aspen Grove this morning
7th mauling to day clem Burning Brush took Down some Tobacco this morning in new Barn, I had viewers here to day to see about changing Road - Henry at work on well all day
8th Striping tobacco all day Snowed about 2 Inches Deep Rained & Hailed, bad day -
9th clear this morning & we will strip Tobacco till we get done what we have down not very cold - Sent Henry to Yates with a Log for Plank get Cutting machine & Cart wheels. Balance Cutting for wood in new ground Sent 35 lbs Iron to Yates to pay some I borrowed last fall got 7 plank wheels & Cutting Knives
10th Cutting & mauling, in new ground clem shrubing in new ground; Mr Geo. Robey worked here to day 2 days. making 2 days in all

24th Put out Our Second rate Tobacco Toping over & worming next to Whiteheads In evening Came up a tremendous hard rain wind & Gust washed away all fencing Blew down some for me took us till night to fix up again
25 Jerry & Henry Came home from Lynchg bringing 6 Bags Guano 1000 for aspen Grove sent the waggon on right off
26. Sunday Jerry went to association at upper Banister Carried the Letter from Strait Stone Church & $5 in money Doct Thompson came over to day Sunday to Mr Bybees children as he told me himself
27th Halled up Fodder & 1 stack Oats & then Henry went to mill & got flour from yates & gone down to aspen Grove to Load & start to Lynchg again with 2 Teams & all the Tobacco from there I Carrd Jerry to Chalk Level to live this morning for 12 months for $50Picked up & halled 1 Load apples, now Toping & worming Tobacco —
28 Started to Lynchg & carried Sallie on to School at Hollins Institute, worming & succoring Tobacco Rained very hard again Finished Carrying the Tobacco to Lynchg from Aspen Grove made only 5442 lb & sold for $290 & some Cents Expense in halling $16 & some cents overseer part $39.11. Settled with him for Tobacco & oats made 1859 & Oats made 1860 I Bot for moses, & he asked off & I took them myself I have paid for them &

16th novr Sent my Horse to L Yates Shop Card 1 shoe & he found one nailed them on behind had Mrs Hunts here to day & to night I have stilled to day 1 Doubling 25 GallsBrandy for Est. toll to come out Mr Wyatt finished 1 side of office & began the other, likely for rain—
17th Raining this morning & we are doing but little till after dinner, then we housed all the corn we shucked. about 40 Barrels & 27 before. making over 65 Barrels housed shattered corn to get up yet had Mrs Hunts Horses to hall up about 7 Loads Henry got back this evening Tobacco and sold did not get any time nor my wifes Bonnet; - got bale cotton for Cothran & 1 Bar Iron for Est. of J.D. Hunt -
18 Went to Court. sold Mr Hunts children carriage his gold watch & silver - watch sent waggon Home to aspen Grove Halled wood, Claiborne gone to aspen Grove in Sandys place, Sandy is at Mr Hunts place shoemaking, yet. etc —
19th Stilled to day made for Est 2.25 Gallons toll to come out. Halled up Corn to day, Mrs Hunt & Bob went to her place yesterday Cleaned up round office this morning Mr Wyatt finished it yesterday
20th Halled up fresh ground corn & part of the stalks I went to Doct. J C. Thompson Funeral & Burial at Riceville Mrs Ward Mary Adams & Mrs Coleman all came here about 12 oclock cool day —
21. Finished Shucking Corn & halling stalks
22nd Killed Beef at aspen Grove & shucking Corn
