193 COMMON COUNCIL OF TEH CITY OFSEATTLE May 20 1887 Petition of C C Otis & Others for grading and building sidewalks on Fourth Street from Bell Street to Union Street. referred to street Committee Committee Reports Received FromComittee on Fire& Waater on petition of B Gatzert, G W Harris, J M Quilter, Geo Kinnear and others for a new Hook & Ladder Truck recommending that the petition be granted and suitable Hook &Ladder Truck purchased the price and pattern to be submitted to the Council for its approval. From Samecommittee granting petition of M McAndrews & Others asking that Ordinance No 549 be so amended as to exclude that part of the City South of the South line of Mill Street and East of the alley between Commercial and South Second Street from thefire limits onmotion the petition and report is referred back to the Committe From Finance Committee granting petition of Alex McLain for striking off $16.50 of his taxes from his assessment roll of 1886. Adopted. From Same Committee granting petition of Maggie A Barker for refunding taxes to the amount of $9.00 it being a double assessment and the Clerk directed to draw a warrant in favor of said Maggie A Barker on the General Fund Adopted From same Committee grantign petition of Fred Minick forpayment of services rendered by said Minick a Sepcial olice officers. Granted & Clerk directed to draw a warrant in favor of same for the sum of Thirty Seven & 50/100 ($37.50)dollars on the General Fund.

382 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Feb 3 1888 Ordered that the Street Commissioner be authorized to sell broken and defective sewer pipe now in the hands of the Street Department. Ordered that no bills be audited or allowed by the Council for Pest House or other supplies unless the same are accompanied by orders for the purchasing agent. Ordered that Jacob Cowan & J. A. Juroe be granted permission to blast at the north end of town for a period of ten days they to be responsible for all accidants or damage caused by said blasting. Ordered that N. Markham be permitted to use blasting powder for one day at the Cor. of Blanchard & 10th Sts. Ordered that the Street Commissioner be directed to put in a drain so as to drain the water from the property of Edgar Bryan & H A Bigelow on Fourth Street. Ordered that the Plat of Rengstorgs Addition to the City of Seattle as modified be approved. On motion of J Furth Chairman of the Finance Committee the following claims against the City are rejected.
