No complaints being made against said assessment Roll and no one appearing to contest the same: It is ordered that the said Assessment Roll be and the same is hereby approved. Bids for Grading West Street Pursuant to published notice the council now proceeds to open bids for grading West Street from Virginia Street to Cedar Street and building sidewalks on both sides of said street: On motion the Clerk is directed to return the bid of W E Wilson to him unopened it not having been filed within the time required by the published call for bids: Bid of O'Day and Anderson Earthwork per cubic yard 32 cents Clearng and Grubbing per acre $99.00 Bid of Finch & Henderson Sidewalks per M[thousand] B M[thousand] $15.45 Box Drains per M[thousand] B M[thousand] $15.45 Bridge per M[thousand] B M[thousand] $15.85 Bid of D S Hill & Co Sidewalks per M[thousand] B M[thousand] $14.75 Bridge & Box Drains per M[thousand] B M[thousand] $20.00 After due consideration of said bids On motion it is ordered that the contract for doing the Earthwork be awarded to O'Day and Anderson and the

Ordered that the contrat for bulding sidewalk and bridge be awarded to Finch & Henderson upon thier finling a bond in the sum of $1000.00 and the City Attorney directed to draw the usual contract. North School House Property Councilman Frink states that he has communicated with the School Trustees of School District No 1 and that the said trustees are ready to transfer the North School House property. to wit: Lots numbered 9 & 12 Block 52 A A Denny's 3rd Addtition upon the terms heretofore offered and moves that upon a porpoer transfer being made a warrant for the sum of Four Thousand (4000)dollars be drawn in favor of said School District. Carried. On motion of Councilman Reitze Ordered that the following shall be the linits within which property shall be subject to a special tax for lighting of the streets gas or electric lights and within which the City shall furnish the same to wit: Commencing at the foot of Dearborn Street and running thence East along the South side of Dearborn Street to 12th St thence north along the East side of 12th St to Mill Street thence West along the north side of Mill St to Broadway, thence along the east side of Broadway to 14th Street, thence northwesterly along the east side of 14th Street to Depot Street to Railroad Avenue, thence along Railroad Avenue to Mill Street, thence South on a line parallel with Commercial Street two hundred and fifty six feet west of the west line of Commercial Street to Dearborn Street the place of beginning.

245 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 5 1887 Seventh Street & West Street Ass't Rolls Pursuant to law and published notices the Council now proceeds to examine and equalize the special assessment Rolls for the Assessment Districts established by Odinance No 843 for the grading of West Street from Cedar Street to Virginia Street and to build sidewalks thereon. and by Ordinance No 848 for the grading of Seventh Street from Madison Street to Mill Street & Building sidewalks thereon, and no one appearing to contest either of said assessment rolls and no objection being made to them or either of them. On motion it is ordered that said assessment Rolls be and the same are hereby approved. Councilman Reitze moves to instruct the Clerk to advertise for bids for lighting street for the ensuing year. Referred to Committee on Street lights. His Honor the Mayor having stated to the Council he will be absent from the City for some weeks, on motion fo CouncilmannJ M Frink, Councilman Furth is elected Acting Mayor during the absence of the Mayor by unanimous vote of the Council.
