1859 Augt 9th I am going to the CH to day to see about Mrs Stones business as Commr Agreed with Cothran for another year as overseer —dry weather yet Mr Waldron brot another Load Shingles 1977 hundred above like the others I got of him @$3½ pr Thousand. dry weather yet

10. 10th Raised The Top of our Barn to day Mr Cothran Jordan Sandy & Lowry Came up to help us got it done & they went home little after 12 Oclock I went to Edge Hill to meeting — dry here yet tho fine Rains not far off

11th I stayed at settling with Mr Faris Whitehead wrote Several letters etc one to Bro. Jno & Jonathan Duffy & Henry Wingfield, Mr Chummy & Henry & claiborne at work on Barn, balance Cutting clem spining & drying fruit

12th Same work to day I am going to aspen Grove this evening & James Shields

13the went to meeting to day Mrs Hunt Came back here dry & Hot yet 14th went to meeting

15th went to Court. Balance claiborne little Henry & Jim gone to Fannies to thrash wheat Halled 2 Logs to Mill & Halled plank from mill wormed & Succored & toped Tobacco got done a little after 12 oclock round ing & Jointing shingles in evening I Bob Worked here this day —

16th Mr chumbly Hunting Corn wheat or something to Eat. Henry Rounding shingles Bob Here again this morning —

1859 Oct 2nd, Stayed at home all day went to aspen Grove Saturday Rained a little this day in morning

3rd Pulled Corn in Orchard & put in corn house Toping Succors in fresh ground

Oct 4th they are cutting to day in old field, Jerry is gone to Vaughans with traveller to carry him - I Start to Richmond this morning -

15th I have returned to day from Louisa & Richmond Sold Johns Estate Land in Hanover to aaAdophus Tensley]] by Godden & apperson of Richmond, auctioners — had Capt Boxleys Will recorded etc left Bonds & $30.06 in Cousin J. C. Boxleys hands to Collect & pay Taxes etc - etc etc Our Folks has been Cutting Tobacco Housing Firing Tobacco Cutting down corn fixing for Sewing wheat, Finished Cutting Our tobacco, this evening — after I got home I was taken sick puking & purging something like cholera - Sent for Doct Thompson got better in the night, Bro. J Pannill [hap?] here & stayed with me while sick all night

16th I am better on this morning

17th Hanging Tobacco I am better, Raining a little & I am not enough to go to Court Sent Jacob etc - did not rain much Mr, Moses & Kate came to see me wrote to Sallie Mr Wingfield & Miss Gooden & apperson to day - Raining in the night

18th cleared off very fair pretty day Halling up wood & some to Barns & then Halling up Tobacco & Housing —

19th Went to Plantation to day brot wheat Fan up, 1 Turn Corn 1 sheep & some vinegar & Brandy Halling up Tobacco & finished I went to Sarah McCullock etc etc,
