179 Columbia Wash April 4th 1898 The Town Council of the Town of Columbia met in regular session with Mayor Reeves at the chair. Meeting called to order as 8:30 o'clock. Minutes of previous meeting read and after some discussion, they were approved as read. Mr Osgood as Water Committee reported that Mr Marshall had decided to lay his water pipe from Mr Groat's connection instead of water main on Ferdinand Street as per petition granted at last regular meeting. Mr Hepler of the Street Committee reproted on Noble Street Hill matter and reprot was accepted and the Street Committee authorized to purchase 1500 feet of lumber for drains and other necessary feathure of repairs to be made on said Noble Street Hill and to expend not exceeding $25. in addition to the poll tax in making such repairs. Petition of Joseph Helenthal for extension of time in which to move his barn as per notice given by the Street Committee Granted and time extended to thirty days./ On motion it was ordered that the Raininer Avenue Electric Ry Co be notified that inasmuch as the time of their free use of city water expired April 1st 1898 they would be charged the sum of $1.50 per month hereafter. Bond of Marshal Whittington read and accepted and filled with the Clerk. By regular motion warrants were ordered drawn on the Current Expense Fund for the Clerk's, Attorney's and Marshal's salary. Bill presented by S T Whittington in the sum of .45 cts for nails, dog tags, etc. accepted and warrant ordered drawn on the Current Expense fund for the amount. Marshal's quarterly report read and accepted. Clerk's quarterly report read and accepted. On motion Council Adjourned. C F Reeves mayor C S Chase clerk

191 Columbia Wash Oct 10th 1898 No quorum, but the regular salary warrants for the preceding quarter were issued by consent of two councilmen and chariman of the Finance Committee. Present Mayor Reeves, Councilmen Hepler, Osgood, Cameron and Campbell, Marshal [Whittington]] and the Clerk. Minutes of previous regular session read amd approved. Bills of William Hepler $6.00 Bills of William Hepler 2.05 Bills of A F Shafer 9.00 Bills of Nathan Palmer 6.75 Bills of C N Garat 15.35 Bills of Wm White 10.12&1/2cts Bills of S T Whittington 8.00 for street repair work, and Bills of D W Brown 1.85 and Allen & Nelson, for lumber and freight of same 14.50 read and accepted and warrants ordered drawn on the Current Expense Fund for the several amount. 193 Columbia Wash December 5th 1898 The Town Council of the Town of Columbia met in regular session at 8:15 PM with Mayor Reeves in the chair. Present Osgood, Campbell and Lawrence Minutes of previous session read and approved. Marshal's monthly report recd and approved. Clerl's report of the financial condition of the town read and accepted. Bill of Lowman & Hanford for election poll books $1.50; Bill of Newman& Moulton for printing ballots $3.00; Bills of C S Chase for sundry smallitems $1.20; Bill of A H Hepler for nails .30cts; and Bill of S T Whittington for stationary .15 cts; read and accepted and warrants ordered drawn on the Current Expense fund for the several amounts. Bill of Dr Brooks for services as Health Officer for the year 1898 reported on by clerk of the Board of Health and upon recommendation of the members present warrant was ordered drawn on the Current Expense Fund for $12.00, in payment of the same. Communication from the County Auditor with regard to tax penalty and interest read and inasmuch as the same was not clearly understood, it was referred to the City Attorney to investigate the question and report at next regular meeting. Election Board for the town election to be held Dec 6th, were duly appointed as follows: Mr J A Kelso for inspector and Mr C N Groat and MrPalmer for election judges.
