Petition of A Jackson supt of Pacific Cable Road Construction Co for change of grade of a portion of Jackson Street read and referred to Committee on Streets with power to act. Petition of Frank Clancy for permission to blast out five stumps on lot on 5th and Stewart Street read & granted provided no blasting is doen within 120 feet of any house without permission of the owner and resident. All damamges done to be paid for by petitioner.

669 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Dec 7 1888 herein charged for, informed him that they would pay no more than the contract price and I don't think the City is liable for the claim and it is therefore respectfully rejected". Report Adopted & Claim rejected. From Committee on Street Lights granting petition of G S Shoudy & others for a street light Corner of 13th & Howell Sts adopted. From Street Committee granting petition of Hall & Ritchie for the acceptance of South Eleventh Street etc. Adopted. From Same Committee recommending that the petition of W P Bird and others for the grading Wilford Street be tabled. Adopted. From the Judiciary Committee on the petition of R H Hanford for the appointment of Joseph McNaught as an appraiser on behalf of the owners of property condemned on South Eleventh Street. vice H H Lewis absent from the City, submitting a verbal report to the effect that as the formerly appointed board of appraisers had failed to report within thirty days from the date of their appointment as required by law, and also that Mr Joseph McNaught had left the city to be absent several months a new board of appraisers should be appointed for said district: Whereupon on motion duly made and seconded, Mr A B Stewart is appointed an appraiser on behalf of the owners of property condemned by ordinance No 942 and Mr Leander Miller an appraiser on behalf of the owners of property benefiting by said ordinance No 942, Whereupon his Honor the Mayor appoints Mr Fred E Sander an appraiser in said matters on behalf of the City. License Referred Eugene W Nay Seventh Street Tax Levy Ord 848# Ordered that a tax of 573 Mills on each and every dollar of the assessed valuation of all the property included within the assessment district created by Ordinance No 848 be and the same hereby is levied on said property for the purpose of paying for the improvements of Seventh Street from Mill Street to Madison Street in the City of Seattle. Tenth Street Tax Levy Ord 944# Ordered that a tax of 466 Mills on each and every dollar of the assessed valuation of all the property included within the assessment district created byOrdinance No 944 be and the same hereby is levied on said property for the purpose of paying for the improvements of Tenth Street from Seneca Street to Broadway in the City of Seattle. 689 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Dec 28 1888 Ordered that the Committee on Street Lights place two lights in rear of Canadian Pacific Docks. Ordered that the $600.00 paid by Frank Clancy for a retail liquor license be refunded to him. Upon motion of Councilman Green the Mayor appoints Messrs Durie and Jones a committee to receive the Road Commission. Ordered that the Fire & Water Committee purchase a Lumber wagon for the use of the Fire Department. Matter of licensing and regulating sewer commissioners referred to Sewer Committee and City Attorney. the City Attorney submits an ordinance entitled "An Ordinance in relation to sewers and deainage" Passed by the Following vote: In Favor D E Durie, Jos Green T E Jones, Jas McCombs, J F McDonald, C F Reitze, Agains Same none.
