Sewers} and} James McDonald Chairman F J BUrns and C F Reitze Drainage} The Council now takes a recess for half an hour. After recess the City Attorney states to the Council that the vote hitherto taken for City Treasurer by which F E Sander had been declared elected was irregular. No candidiate having received a majority of the votes if the Council the vote having stood four for Sander, three for Parker and one for Wald. On motion of the councilman Reitze the vote for City Treasurer is ordered reconsidered by the following vote, viz: in favor of said motion Burns, Durie, Jones, McCombs, Niesz & Reitze. Against the same none. The Council now proceeds to elect a City Treasurer with the following result F E Sander four (4) votes. Isaac Parker four votes

1 Board of Aldermen of the City of Seattle

Be it remembered that on this the 14th day of October A D 1890. The Board of Aldermen of the City of Seattle meets pursuant to law!

The following Members are present: Alderman W H Bogardus Geo W Hall F. W. D. Holbrook Moses Korn A. S. Miller Frank A. Pontius W. A. Snyder F. W. Wald F. N Wilcox Clerk H W Miller

The following proceedings are had: The Board were called to order by H W Miller Clerk. Upon motion F. W. D. Holbrook was elected temporary President! Ordered that a Committee be appointed on Credentials. The Prest appointed Miller, Wilcox & Pontius and after examining the Credentials declared the following Gentlemen entitled to seats. W. D. Bogardus Geo W Hall F. W. D. Holbrook Moses Korn A. S. Miller Frank A Pontius W. A Snyder F. W Wald & F. N. Wilcox Upon a vote Geo W Hall was elected permanant President without opposition A Committee of three consisting of Miller Wald and Holbrook were appointed by the Chair on Rules and Order of Business:

Nominations The following nominations were then placed before the Board by the Mayor to be Confirmed: For members of The Board of Public Works: for the term of three years; George H. Heilbron for the term of two years W. V. Rinehart for the term of one year Luther H Griffiths

Oct 14| The result of the ballots were as follows: 1890| Nine votes were cast for Geo H Heilbron Nine Votes for W. V. Rhinehart and Nine Votes Against Luther H Griffiths: The Prest declined the appointments of Geo H. Heilbron and W V. Rhinehart Confirmed and that of Luther H. Griffiths rejected!

The Mayor then presented the Name of Capt W. H. Taylor for Confirmation rejected by a vote of 5 to 4 —

The Mayor then presented the Name of Jesse F. Cochran for Confirmation = Confirmed by vote of 8 to 1

The Prest declared Jesse F. Cochran duly elected

Miller moved that the nomination of Heilbron Rhinehart and Cochran be made unanimous = Carried

A Committee of 3 Consisting of Comden Barton and Furry from the House of Delegate presented a communication from that Body to the effect that they were Organized and ready for business and awaiting any communication from the Board of Alderman!

Petition's of A. F. Hoyne and Charles D. Knight asking for the appointment of Sergt at Arms ordered read & tabled

The Prest appointed Messes Snyder Wilcox and Wald a Committee of 3 to provide furniture for the New Offices!

The Board of Aldermen are now organized as a Body and ready to receive any Communication your Honorable Body may have to make.signed Geo W Hall Prest H W Miller Clerk In answer to your question regarding the time of meeting the board of Alderman have decided when they adjourn to take a recess until Friday evening Oct 17/90 at 7:30 PM At the Old City Hall. the Board of Aldermen request that your body appoint a committee of 3 to confer with a like committee consisting of Messrs Snyder, Wilcox & Wald tp provide for the furnishing ofthe new offices.
