TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Notice is hereby given by Jane L. Stanford and the Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University, owners of the building and property hereinafter described, that S. H. Palmer, contractor, successor and assignee of R. P. Hurlbut, original contractor, under contract made and dated May 20th, 1899, between Jane L. Stanford and said R. P. Hurlbut, has ceased from all labor on said contract, leaving the work and labor to be performed thereunder unfinished and incomplete; that such cessation from labor actually occurred on the 14th day of October, 1901, and that no labor has been performed or materials furnished to said building, hereinafter referred to, under said contract by said Palmer or said Hurlbut, or any one else, from said 14th day of October, 1901, to the date hereof, a period of more than thirty days; that Jane L. Stanford is the name of the person who caused the work under said contract to be performed and that she was acting as Surviving Founder of the Leland Stanford Junior University, and for and on behalf of the Trustees of said University; that said contract is on record in the office of the Recorder of the County of Santa Clara, State of California, and is for the carpenters' and joiners' work, glazing and other work, labor and materials mentioned and described in said contract and the specifications to which reference is hereby made; that the said work and labor specified in said contract was to be performed on that certain building or structure known as and called the Natural Sciences Building situated upon a lot of land in the grounds of the Leland Stanford Junior University in the County of Santa Clara, State of California,
