PETITION FOR LICENSE.

TO THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE:

The undersigned, Walter Dufour,

doing business under the name of Walter Dufour, having been a resident of the City of Seattle for four months last past and of this Territory for four months last past at Seattle in this Territory, requests a retail Spirituous, Vinous & Malt Liquor license to sell intoxicating liquor in the Third Ward of said city.

Name of house Maple Leaf Wine & Spirit Vaults No 3214, situated on the North side of Pike Street Corner of Fourth street, for the period of one year, from the 14th day of August, 1889, to the 14th day of August, 1890.

My title to the above premises is that of lessee - H. A. Bigelow, owner -

Know all Men by these Presents, That we, Walter Dufour, as principal, and W. B. Jones and C. H. Shaw, as sureties, are held and firmly bound unto the City of Seattle in the penal sum of One Thousand ($1,000) Dollars for the payment of which, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our and each of our heirs, executors and administrators jointly and severally, firmly by these presents.

Sealed with our seals and dated this 14th day of August, 1889.

The condition of the above obligation is such that, whereas the above named bounden Walter Dufour has petitioned the City Council of the City of Seattle for a license to sell at retail intoxicating liquors in the 3d ward of said City at No. 3214 North side of Pike Street Corner of Fourth Street, for the period of one year from the date of said license; now, therefore, if the said above bounden Walter Dufour, receiving said license, shall keep and maintain an orderly house in all and every respect, and will not sell, give or dispose of any liquor of whatsoever kind, character or description to any minor or minors, and shall, in all and every respect fully comply with the provisions and requirements of Ordinance No. 910 of the City of Seattle, relating to the governing of the traffic of intoxicating and malt liquors within the City of Seattle, and any and all amendments thereto and any, all and every ordinance of the said City of Seattle, relating to the traffic in intoxicating and malt liquors within the City of Seattle, and shall well and truly pay all judgments recovered against him for any violation of the same, then the above obligation to be null and void, otherwise to remain in full force and effect.
