573 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 17 1888 From Committee on Sewers & Drainage granting petition of S N Sorensen for a sewer in Spring Street fromThird Street to anoutlet or connection with with some other sewer. Adopted. From Same Committee granting petiton of D T Denny ndothers for a sewer in Bell Street from the Bay to fifth Street. Adopted. From Committee on Street Lights granting petitionof W V Rinehart & others for street Lights on Fifth Street between Pine & Bell Streets saod lights to be of 16 candle power & placed on wooden posts. Adopted. From Committee on Harbor & Wharves recommentind that a public boat landing by built at the foot of Jackson Street consisting of a float made of cedar logs with gangway anchored to the whatf at the foot of of said street for the landing of small boars. Adopted and Street Commission directed to build said landing. From Committee on Streets to whom was referred the petition of the Puget Sound Improvement Co & others regarding sewer connections with Pike Street sewer and planking said Pike Street recommending that said street be planked sixteen feet wide on the south side from Second Street toSixth Street as heretofore ordered and the part of said petition referring to sewer connections be referred to the sewer committee. Adopted From same committee granting petition of J A Gould and others for opening Ward Street from Farm to Lombard Street and Lombard Street from Ward Street to Farragut Street. Adopted.

597 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Sep 7 1888 Harrison Street read and referred to Street Light Committee. Petition of Moses Tubbs for permission to use a portion of Third and Cherry Streets for the placing of building material for a period of four months read and granted. provided that not more than one half of the street be obstructed. Petition of S Sorenson for permission to build a corrugated iron building on the South half (1/2) of Lot 6 Block 6 of D S Maynard's Plat read and referred to the Committee on Fire & Water. Petition of D T Denny and others praying the Council to prohibit the granting of liquor licenses within a radius of four blocks of any school building read and referred to Committee on License & revenue. Petition of Horatio B Rogers and others for street lights on Grant Street read and referred to Comittee on Street Lights in Conjunction with Committee on Health & Police. Petition of Wilson & Nixon for permission to use the sidewalk and a portion of Commercial Street in front of the Arlington Hotel for building material for a period of ninety (90) days read and granted so far as the use of one half of the street is concerned. Communication from D H Webster offering to settle tax in Lot 2 Block 7 Boren & Denny's Addition for the year 1877 read and referred to the City Atty.

611 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Sep 21 1888 from same committee granting petition of Thompson and O'Hara for temporary transfer of Liquor license. Adopted. From Same committee on petition of D T Denny & Others asking the Council not to grant licenses for the sale of liquor within four blocks of any school house in the city, recommending that the petition be granted so far as not grant any such license within three (3) blocks of the Central, North & South school houses Also recommending that the Council adopt the policy of refusing to grant any liquor licenses in any part of what is recognized as the residence portion of the City or for any portion of the outlying districts which would necessitate extra expense for the Police Department Adopted. From Committee on Fire & Water rejecting the petition of D H Callahan & others for the abatement of a nuisance in the shape of a sash and door factory on Third Street between Pike and Pine and stating that the committee had notified the proprieters to put a spark arrester on the chimney of said factory. Adopted. From same Committee granting petition of J H Rengstorff for permission to move and repair portion of dwelling house on North half of Lot 5 block 6 A A Denny's addn so far as to give him permission to move his part of the said building a distance not to exceed fifteen (15) feet and close the same in but to add nothing to it that is not in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No 992. Adopted. from Committee on Streets rejecting petition of D N Hyde for a sidewalk on South side of Bluff Street. Adopted From Same Committee rejecting petition of J F McNaught

Plat of Supplemental Plat of Terry's Fourth Addition to the City of Seattle is approved. Plat of V Hugo Smith's Supplemental Plat to Block 8 of an addition to the City of Seattle as laid off by D T Denny guardian of the Estate of J N Nagle. is approved. Ordinances 101 An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance to locate and establish a public street in the City of Seattle extending from a point where the north marginal line of Plummer Street in Plummer addition to the City of Seattle intersects the West Marginal line of South Twelfth running thence west alond the north marginal line of Plummer Street produced to an intersection with the western limits in the City of Seattle in the Waters of Elliott's Bay" Passed by the following vote. In favor F J Burns D E Durie Jos Green Thos Jones Jas McCombs J F McDonald U R Niesz C F Reitze. Against the same None. The City Attorney submits an ordinance entitled "An Ordinance granting to J M Thompson and his assigns the right to construct operate and maintain street railways in the City of Seattle" Referred to Street Committee with request that they report at adg meeting. 102 The City Attorney submits and ordinance entitled "An Ordinance authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to execute a quit claim deed in the name of the City of Seattle to T N Hackett" Passed by the following vote.
