Seattle Washington Nov. 1/90 To the Honorable Members of the City Council Gentlemen We the undersigned citizens on Lake view at Baker St And other streets along the route from Jackson St to Taylor's mill on the bank of Lake Washington being subjected to great inconvenience on account of having no lights over said route at night petition your honorable body to have lights placed on Lake view St from Jackson St to [Weller?] and thence down Weller and along the route to Taylor Mill. Washington and Main St to be planked as follows the South side of Washington from the west side of Commercial St the planking east of the alley Sixteen feet in width the north side of Main From the west side of Commercial St the planking east of alley sixteen feet wide and that the work be done immediatly before the winter rains set in. Consideration of Ordinances Ordered that the 3 applications for Street Railway franchises by the Seattle Street Railway Co J. R. Lewis et al and J. B. Metcalf et al be laid over for special business for meeting on Tuesday September 11.1883.

Ordered that the Attorney be & is hereby instructed to submit an Ordinance grading & licensing Peddlers, Hawkers etc.

The Attorney submits an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance to amend Ordinance No 383 entitled An Ordinance to establish certain grades in the City of Seattle," thereupon after due consideration the same is adopted upon the following Vote, towit: In favor of adoption Clancy, Day, Harris, McDonald, Rasin, Ranke & Wusthoff. Against adoption none.

The Attorney submits an Ordinance entitled "To prevent the [------] of teams unfastened," thereupon after due consideration the same is adopted upon the following Vote, towit: In favor of adoption Clancy, Day, Harris, McDonald, Rasin, Ranke & Wusthoff. Against adoption none.

Miscellaneous Ordered that the Clerk be & is hereby instructed to advertise for bids for boarding city prisoners.

And now in pusuance to notice duly given the Council proceeds to examine & equalize the Assessment Roll for the Improvement of Madison Street under Ordinance No 406; thereupon P. H. Lewis files written objections to such assessment. Pending the consideration of which objections [---------] said roll are referred to the Street Committee, Assessor & Attorney for examination
