To His Honor the Mayor and Common Council, of the City of Seattle, The undersigned citizens of said City, believing that it would be of very great and lasting advantage to the commercial interest, as well as to the city at large, that a steet 150 feet wide be laid out by the city for a public highway, commencing on the West Side of Commercial Street, at or near the intersection of Brunswick and Commercial Streets, thence running West to a point within 200 feet of the R.R. Avenue, thence Westerly parallel with R.R. Ave. to the City limits. In favor of granting the same, Harrington, Yesler & Rinehart Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Wednesday May 20, 1885 at 8o'clock pm Attest: E S Osborne clerk Approved John Leary mayor Be it remembered that on this the 20th day of May 1885 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following Officers are present towit: His Honor the Mayor John Leary and Councilmen Alfred Snyder, E F Sox, H L Yesler, W G Latimer & S D Crockett Thereupon the following proceedings are had: And now the Council proceeds with the examination and equalization of the Assessment Roll for the year 1885 Ordered that the following changes be made on said roll towit: T A Wakely reduced on Mortgage $2000. D T Wheeler reduced on Mortgage $600. Harrington Smith reduced on Mortgage $2500. May Roberts reduced on Mortgage $2000. John Christ reduced on Mortgage $225. A B Young reduced on Mortgage $1000. David Kellogg reduced on Mortgage $300. Bailey Gatzert reduced on Mortgage to $75. Terry Estate reduced on Mortgage $600. L J Holgate reduced on Mortgage $1000. W P Boyd reduced on Mortgage $50. Thos T Minor reduced on Mortgage $125. Wm Copeland reduced on Mortgage to $300. J W Chew reduced on Mortgage $350. Ordered that the assessor be & is hereby instructed to make corrections in the assessments of Sarah M Renton, J W George, Henry Adams, Walter France, E S Briscoe & Lamborn

255 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 10 1887 claim be assessed to Chas Neff and the same stricken from Clarence Hanford's assessment. Ordered that Charles Winters be assessed withLot 3 Block 74 A A Denny's and the same be stricken form Clarence Hanford's assessment. Ordered that Lot 3 Block 16 D T Denny's 1st Addn be assessed to Hiram Burnett at a valuation of $250. the same having been left off the roll by the assessor. Application of Robert Fitzhenry for reduction on account of mortgage referred to City Attorney. Ordered that lots 3,4,5,6,7,8 in Block 20 Eden Addn be assessed to W S Harrington and the same stricken from E S Osborn assessment. Ordered that E S Osborn be reduced in Block 10 Hanford's addition to South Seattle from $600. to $180. Ordered that the Estate of J T Jordan deceased be assessed with $6302 on mortgages and that E S Osborn &O C Shorey guardians of said estate have each $3551, stricken from his personal propertery being the same mortgage. Ordered that Carrie B Hopkins be reduced on improvements onLot 7 Block D A A Denny's from $3500 to $11250 , & Lot 8 Block D from $750 to $#00. Ordered W H Llewellyn be reduced on personal property $450 the same being a double assessment. Ordered that Lots 5 & 6 in Bolck 41 D S Maynard's be assessed to W P Boyd the same having beenomitted by assr.
