81 Columbia March 5th 1894 The Town council met pursuant to adjournment Mayor Hutchinson presiding Roll call and the following council men present - Willacy, McKay & Groat The minutes of the last meeting read and on motion approved. The committee appointed to audite the books of the Clerk and Treasurer report and on motion the report accepted The report of the water committee on the work done under Joseph Hellenthal on the water works for month of January read and approved and on motion warrants ordered drawnfor the payment of the work done in excess of the water rent and the Treasurers instructed to credit the amount worked out on water rent to the several accounts and to give receipts for the same. Bill from Z C Miles read and on motion laid on the table. Bill from O S Hepler for laying pipes on Angelina St $51.73 read and on motion ordered paid. The report of the City Engineer read and on motion ordered placed on file. Motion made and carried to lay the matter of grading Angelina St on the table until the next meeting. Attorney Peterson's report on the ownership of the Park and on motion it was decided to postpone the park question unitl next meeting. Ordinance #44 known as the dog tax ordinance read and on motion passed by the council and approved by the Mayor. Ordinance # 45 referring to applying of Columbia St improvement warrants as payment of assessment against property fronting on that street read and on motion laid on the table until next meeting.

89 Columbia July 2nd 1894 The Town Council met pursuant to adjournment Mayor Hutchinson presiding Roll call and the following councilmen present, McKay, Groat and Chase The minutes of the last meeting read and on motion approved. The Park committee report progress The Clerk's quarterly report read and motion approved and ordered placed on file. The Attorney's report progress on the road tax question. Motion made and carried to authorize the Attorney to make a formal demand on the County Commissioners for that part of the road tax belonging to the Town of Columbia. Motion made and carried to instruct the Treasurer to amke a quarterly report within the next ten days. A Communication received and read from H H A Hastings giving his opinion in regard to the legality of the claim filed against Angeline Street by J M Bemiss on motion the same was ordered placed on file. The following bills read and on motion warrants ordered drawn for payment of same. bill from L C Woodman for work on Angeline St $4.53 Bill from E L Hepler for lumber furnished and labor in Water works $18.95 Bill from H H A Hastings for legal work $40.00 Motion made and carried to draw warrants to pay the Clerk, Marshal & Attorney their quarterly salary. Motion made and carried to draw warrants for the payment of claims filed against Angeline Street A communication from the Engineer giving the cost of work on Angeline St that should be paid out of the General fund read and on motion ordered placed on file.

144 Columbia Feby 4th 1895 The Town Council met persuant to adjournment Mayor Pierson presiding Roll Call and the followingCouncilmen present; McKay, Groat & Almquist The minutes of the last meeting read and on motion approved. A communication from Fred H Peterson in reference to the suit to reclaim the land known as Park read and on motion ordered placed on file and on motion the Park Committee discharged from further service. Report from the Marshal Brown reand and on motion accepted and ordered placed on file. A petition from Rainier Lodge #184 I O G P read asking for better protection of their property and on motion the same was ordered placed on file. and a committee of one appointed to inform the members of the Columbia Athletic Club that unless better usuage of the Hall and contents is maintained they will be refused the use of same. Ordinance #50 fixing the bonds and the compensation of the Officers of the Town of Columbia read and on motion passed by the Council and approved by the Mayor. Ordinance #51 defining the duties of the City Attorney and fixing his compensation read and on motion passed by the Council and approved by the Mayor The folllowing standing committees are appointed by the Mayor. On Water Councilmen Calder, Groat and Almquist On Streets and Alleys, Almquist, Chase and McKay On Finance, McKay, Groat & Chase On Health, Groat, Calder & Chase On Public Buildings and Wharves, Chase, McKay and Calder Bill from D C Brown for salary for the month of January as Marshal $8.33 read and on motion the same was ordered paid.

103 The bonds of the Treasurer, Clerk, Marshal, and Police Justice read and on motion they were all instructed to have the wives of the surities sign the bonds and the City Attorney and Mayor instructed to investigate the standing of the surities. Motion made and carried to instruct the Marshal to arrest any one seen entering the Town Hall Through the windows or committing depredation to any properties of the Town. Motion made and carried to have Mr. Fred H Peterson discharged and a demand made on him to surrender the warrant issued in his favor in the sum of $100. Motion made and carried that the Attorney and Mayor Pierson interview the County Commissioners to try and secure the payment to the Town of the amount of Road Tax collected by the County and not turned over to the Town. On motion a warrant was ordered drawn for $5.00 in favor of Fred H Peterson in payment in full for his services as attorney is the suit to reclaim the Park On motion attorney Thompson and the mayor are appointed to inspect the books of the Treasurer and Clerk and report on the same at the next meeting. Motion made and carried to adjourn to meet Saturday Feb 9 at 7:30 at the Town Hall B R Shaw Clerk Approved Feb 9th V R Peirson
