Room 19 Boston Block Seattle Wash Aug. 26, '89

To the Hon. Mayor and City Council of Seattle

Sirs;

The undersigned being owners of lots in the Oak Street grade district, between Depot St & Harrison St. North Seattle, would respectfully represent that the valuation and assessment of lots for said grade is essentially unfair in general particulars, proposing an unjust burden of tax upon us your petitioners.

First, it should be noticed that lots on and near Depot St. on Oak are by far the most valuable in the district, being worth more than twice as much in the current market as others on Oak St. three blocks further north, yet they are assessed only about 12% higher for grade purposes - and if these lots are fairly valued as at present assessed at $475. then lots in blocks 41 and 46 should not be rated at over $200. or $225. - Or again if the present valuations of $425. and $450.
