To the Mayor And Common Council of the City of Seattle We the undersigned property holders on Jackson Street in the City of Seattle ask your Honorable Body to place a sewer in Jackson Street from eleventh Street to tide water at fifth street. The property holders on said street have no means of sewage whatever - and the lots and street are full of sess pools which we consider very bad for the Health of the inhabitants on said Street and city likewise - at the present time several new dwellings are being erected and no means of sewerage S.S. 98 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Oct 15 1886 Be it remembered that on this 15th day of October 1886 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to law: The following officers are present to wit: His Hon. the Mayor W.H. Shoudy and Councilmen C.W. Coulter, J. Furth, J.M. Frink, Jos Green, T.D. Hinkley, R. Russell and C F. Reitze: when the following proceedings were had to wit: The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved. Petitions & Communications Petition of D.W. West et al for street lights on south Eighth Street at the intersection of King, Water, and Lane Streets. Referred to Committee on Street Lights Petition of R.H. Denny et al for a sewer on Front Street between Pike and Union Streets. Referred to Committee on Sewers & Drainage Petition of A. J. Henrich for permission to use a portion of Grant Street for building purposes. Referred to Street Committee. Petition of L. Diller praying that he be permitted to keep the sidewalk iin front of Lot 1 Block 6 Denny's addition in good repair, and not be completed to build a new sidewalk until next spring when petitioner proposes to build a stone wall in front of said premises and build a new sidewalk. Referred to Street Committee Petition of L. Diller et als praying for the repeal of Ordinance No 767 Known as the High License ordinance. Referred to the Committee on License and Renewal.

234 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Jul 15 1887 An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled An Ordinance providing for the grading of Mill Street from a point midway between South Fourth and South Fifth streets to Williamson Street and build sidewalks on both sides thereof" which is passed by the following vote, viz: In favor of the same Jacob Furth, J.M. Frink, Joseph Green, T.D. Hinckley Russell and Charles F. Reitze. Against none. An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled 'An Ordinance provided for the grading of Seventh Street from Madison Street to Mill Street and for the building of sidewalks thereon" which is passed by the following vote. viz: In favor of the same Jacob Furth, J.M. Frink, Joseph Green, T.D. Hinckley Russell & Charles F. Reitze. Against none An Ordinance is submitted by the Clerk entitled 'A special Ordinance Appropriating Money [crossed out] to pay Audited Bills" which is passed by the following vote: ayes Jacob Furth, J.M. Frink, Joseph Green T.D. Hinckley, Russell & Charles F. Reitze. Noes none. Ordered that the Council do now adjourn un-til Thursday July 21st 1887 at 7.30 P.M.
