Brooklyn Seattle Nov 4th 1892 To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council of the City of Seattle The undersigned residents of the Brooklyn District on the North side of Lake Union do respectfully petition your honorable body to establish and maintain fourteen 30 candle power electric lights to be placed as follows NW Corner Broadway and Lancaster NW Corner Broadway and Railroad Avenue NW Corner Broadway and Chester SW Corner Broadway and Federal SW Corner Broadway and Beacon SW Corner Broadway and Dartmouth SW Corner Broadway and Franklin SE Corner Brooklyn and Chester SECorner Brooklyn and Federal SE Corner Brooklyn and Beacon NE Corner Lancaster, Summit and Lake Avenue SE Corner Summit and Chester SE Corner Summit and Federal SW corner Columbia Street and Railroad Avenue[crossed out] All of the above lights (except the last) would be on streets which are graded and sidewalked, including the only means of approach to a redisence district of over 50 houses. The light last mentioned is at the intersection of the electric Railway and the S L S and E Ry, where many passengers get on and off. PETITION TO EXTEND CITY LIMITS.

To the Honorable Common Council of the City of Seattle, Washington:

We, the undersigned, being each a qualified elector of the said city of Seattle, hereby respectfully petition that the boundaries of the city of Seattle be altered and the new territory hereinafter described be included within the said city of Seattle after proceedings had as required by law, and that you submit to the electors of said city and to the electors residing in the said territory hereinafter described, the question whether said territory shall be annexed to the said city of Seattle, and become a part thereof.

The new territory proposed to be annexed to the city of Seattle is particularly described as follows:

All of sections 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 22, 23 and the north half of section 24 and all of section 26, all in township 25 north, of range 3 east, of W. M.; also all of sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and the north half of sections 19 and 20, and all of sections 21 and 22, all in township 25, north of range 4, east of W. M.; including also the water and the land covered by water fronting said above described lands westward, three miles from high water mark into the waters of Admiralty Inlet, and eastward to the middle of Lake Washington, including the whole of Union Bay and all that portion of Salmon Bay not included within the corporate limits of the town of Ballard, excepting from the land above described all that territory included within the present corporate limits of the town of Ballard, which territory included in the town of Ballard is more particularly bounded and described as follows, to-wit:

The area within the triangle bounded by Times Street on the north, Railroad Avenue on the east, Salmon Bay on the south and southwest and Fifth Avenue West on the west, according to the plat of Gilman Park, now on file in the Auditor's office of King County, State of Washington.

The Street Committee report that they have considered the application of S L Bowman for a street-railway franchise, made to the city council on the 27thof June; that they are opposed to the granting of any franchise for a street railway along Weller Street at prosent, while questions as to the grade of that street and the constructionof the roadway thereof are unsettled; but that Mr. Bowman has expressed to yout committee his willingness to m odify his application so as to ask for the franchise desired by him over the following route: Beginning on Washington Street at the west line of the sidewalk on the east side of Railroad Avenue; running thence east along Washington Street to the line of Sixteenth Street in Sander's Supplemental Plat projected northward; thence south through private property along said line of said Sixteenth Street projected northward, to and across Jackson Street; thence in an easterly, southeasterly or southerly direction through private property to Twenty Fifth Street in Sander's Supplemental Plat; thence south along said Twenty Fifth Street to State Street; thence east along State Street to the line of Twenty Fourth Street in the plat of Central Seattle projected northward; thence south along the line of said Twenty Fourth Street projected northward, to Grand Street; thence east along Grand Street to Twenty Fifth Street in said plat of Central Seattle; thence south along said Twenty Fifth Street to Walker Street; and thence in an easterly, southeasterly or southerly dierction , by the most practicable route, through private propety and along or across any street or streets necssary or desirable to be included in such route, to the south boundry line of the City of Seattle. And your committee respectfully report in favor of granting to said S L Bowman a franchise, with porper conditions and restrictions, for the constructions and operationofa street railway along the route above designated. 145 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jan 25 1887 The City Attorney submits an Ordinance entitled "An ordinance to construct a sidewalk on the west side of Front Street" which is passed by the following vote In favor of the same Furth, Frink, Green, Hinckley, Russell & Reitze. Against none. The City Attorney submits an Ordinance entitled "An ordinance vacating an alley or street in Block 16 of Burke's Addition to the City of Seattle" which is passed by the following vote In favor of the same Furth, Frink, Green, Hinckley, Russell and Reitze. Against none. The City Attorney submits an Ordinance entitled "An ordinance to lay off and establish a public street along the shore and over land covered by waters of Elliott's Bay extending from the north boundary line of the City of Seattle to Columbia Street in said city to be known as and called Railroad Avenue" which after due consideration by the council is passed by the following vote In favor of the same J Furth, J M Frink, Joseph Green, T D Hinckley, R Russell and C F Reitze. Against none. The Clerk submits an Ordinance entitled "A special ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills" which is passed by the following vote In favor of the same Furth, Frink, Green, Hinckley, Russell and Reitze.
