Petition to Extend City Limits of Seattle To the Honorable, the City Council, the Legislative Body of the said city of Seattle, hereby respectfully petition that the boundaries of the City of Seattle be altered and extended so as to include the new territory hereinafter described within the said City of Seattle after proceedings had as required by law, and that you submit to the electors of said city and to the electors residing in the said territory hereinafter described, the question whether said territory shall be annexed to said City of Seattle and become a part thereof. The said new territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Seattle is particularly described as follows to-wit: Beginning at the point in the center of Lake Washington, which is the Northeast corner of the present limits of the City of Seattle; thence Northerly along the center of Lake Washington to an intersection with the south line of Section Sixteen, in Township Twenty-five, Range Four West, W.M., produced eastwardly; thence West in the waters of Lake Washington and Union Bay along said east line produced to the intersection with the east line of said Section Sixteen, produced southerly; thence North in the waters of Union Bay along said east line produced to the shore of said Union Bay, and thence North along the east line of said Section Sixteen and of Section No Nine in said Township and Range to the quarter-section on the east line of said Section Nine; thence West along the center line of said Section Nine to the quarter-section corner in the west line thereof; thence North along the east line lines of Sections Eight and Five in said Township and Range to the north line of said Township Twenty-five North; thence West along said Township line to the quarter-section corner in the north line of Section One, in Township Twenty-five North, Range Three East, which latter point is the Northeast corner of the present corporate limits of the town (now city) of Ballard; thence South along the center line of said Section One, and Sections Twelve and Thirteen in said township Twenty-five North, Range Three East to the Southeast corner of Government Lot 2, in said Section thirteen, said last-named line being the Easterly boundry of said City of Ballard; thence West along the South boundary of said City of Ballard to the center of Salmon Bay; thence Northwesterly following the present corporate limits of the City of Ballard along the center line of Salmon Bay to deep water in Puget Sound of Admiralty Inlet; thence West to the main channel of Puget Sound or Admiralty Inlet; thence southerly along said main to a junction with the main channel from Elliott Bay; thence Easterly and Southeasterly along the main channel of Elliott Bay to the point in the center of Elliott Bay, which is the Northwest corner of the present limits of the City of Seattle; thence Northeastwardly along the present Northwestern boundry of the City of Seattle to the intersection between the shore of said Elliott Bay and the west line of Section Twenty-four, in Township Twenty-five North, Range Three East; thence North, following the present boundary of the City of Seattle along said west line of said Section twenty-four to the quarter section corner in the west line of said Section Twenty-four; thence East, following the present boundary of the City of Seattle along the center line of said Section Twenty-four, and of Sections Nineteen and Twenty in Township Twenty-five North, Range Four East to the east line of said Section twenty; thence South following the present boundary of the City of Seattle, along the east line of said Section Twenty to the Southeast corner thereof; thence East following the present boundry of the City Seattle along the North line of Sections Twenty-eight and Twenty-seven in Township Twenty-five North, Range Four East, to the shore of Lake Washington; and thence Easterly in the waters of Lake Washington following the present boundary of the City of Seattle to the present Northeast corner of the limits of the City of Seattle and place of beginning, including all waters embraced within the boundaries above described. 1 S B Carr 2 D S Kotz 3 Geo F West 4 W R Phillips 5 W R Macpherson 6J J Gilmore 7 Chas Meseth 8 A I Adams 9 C N Thornton 10 Frank H Copp 11 H E Balm 12 D C Hyde 13 John A Peebles 14 C B Fox 15 J Calisher 16 B PBriggs 17 J H Rice 18 J S Windell 19 August Stem 20 T H Clark 21 F H Whitworth 22 W A Egbert 23 W W Houghton 24 GeoSherman 25 T Arthur Whitaker 26 F R Bentley 27 E J Ames 28 E B Ray 29 B W Baker 30 J Mullins 31 Sam Stewart 32 S S Waldo 33 W O Salisbury 34 J Compton 35 L J Hinn 36 W H K Smith 37 J Johnson 38 H L Reynolds 39 B V Wilbur 40 J W Krause 41 A A Ward 42 W J Collins 43 W R Vachey 44 Geo Vining 45 J L Jennings 46 C A Adsit 47 H T Nandquist 48 A Brown 49 R B Gillies 50 Wm S Baddeley

5 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Oct 14, 1881 Be it remembered that on this the 14th day of October 1881 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment The following Officers are present, to wit: His Honor the Acting Mayor John Collins and Concilmen Thos Clancy, Wm A Jennings, John Keenan, Moses Keyzer and Chas McDonald Thereupon the following proceedings are had: The following claims having been duly audited by the Council and ordered paid by Warrents drawn upon the funds and in the amounts following to wit: Road Fund Robt Russell Hauling lumber $5.50 Moses Keezer Extra work on 8th St Sidewalk $6.00 Fire Fund John Maginnis Engine Steward $4.00

And now the City Surveyor makes his report showing that Moses Keezer the Contractor has fully completed the 8th Street side walk under Ordinance No 2 43 according to the plans and specifications thereupon it is ordered that a Warrant be drawn in favor of Moses Keezer in the sum of $523.00 on the fund to pay for said improvement Ordered that a Warrant be drawn infavor of F H Whitworth in the sum of $58.00 on the Fund to pay for the 8th Street side walk constructed under Ordinance No 243 in fullfor his services as Surveyor on the improvement. Ordered that the Ordinance Committee be and they are hereby requested to confer with J W Ackerson & others and the Seattle Lumber & Commercial Co. to see what arrangements can be made relative to the Ballast Wharf Ordered that a warrant be drawn in favor of James M Colman for the amount of interest due on the Commercial Street Grade warrant No 11 Ordered that the petition of Bailey Gatzert asking to have the alley in Block 48 of Terry and McNaughts 2nd Addition be & the same is hereby laid on the Lable Ordered that the petition of O S Wright & others praying

A petition isreceived from E A Turner et al praying for the construction of a sidewalk on King Street from 7th to 10th Streets, referred to Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. 117 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Sept1/82 From Fire and Water, on petition of W H White et al for the purchase of 20x60 feet off West End of Lot 2 Block 5 of Boren's Plat for our Engine House, recommending the purchase of 25 by 60 feet of West end of said Lot.
