Petition to Extend City Limits of Seattle To the Honorable, the City Council, the Legislative Body of the said city of Seattle, hereby respectfully petition that the boundaries of the City of Seattle be altered and extended so as to include the new territory hereinafter described within the said City of Seattle after proceedings had as required by law, and that you submit to the electors of said city and to the electors residing in the said territory hereinafter described, the question whether said territory shall be annexed to said City of Seattle and become a part thereof. Ordered that Geo W Crane be reduced $200 on personal property account Chattel mortgage Ordered that Lawrence S Booth be reduced on personal property $8190 account mortgages cancelled. Ordered that the estate of Crawford & Harrington be reduced on personal property $50,882 acct mortgages. Ordered that the real estate assessed against the Stetson and Post Mill Co be stricken from the roll and that they be reduced on Improvements to $12,500 and on personal property to $12,000. Justice N Soderberg appears before the Council and asks that some action be taken in regard to discrimination against him by the Chief of Police and Police officers in refusing to tske criminsl cases to his court and also charging that the Chief of Police is in league with the gamblers and permitting gambling games to run i the City. On motion of Councilman Furth the matter is referred to the Committee on Health & Police and the Judiciary Committee. On motion of Councilman Lake ordered that here after when parties are given permission to take up sidewalks or street planking in order to make improvements

337 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Nov 18 1887 of A C Anderson for permission to borrow earth from the alley in Block 48 Terry's First Addn to provided the same is done under the supervision of the Street Commissioner. Adopted. From same Committee reporting that they have opened the alley on Block 38 of Boren's Plat in accordance with the prayer of the petition of A H King & others. Adoted. From City Attorney stating that satisfactory arrangements have meen made with the contractors on West Street by which they pay of[f] the laborers on said street is secured. From City Attorney reporting that Justice Jones has decided the case of Kendrick vs the City of Seattle against the City & recommending that the case be appealed tothe Dictrict Court. Ordered that the City Attorney take the steps necessary in order to appeal said cause. From Fire & Water Committee granting petition of M Schmidt for permission to make certain repairs to a building on North side of Washington Street between Commercial & South Second Street providing such repairs are made under the provisions of ordinance No 833. Adopted. From Same Committee granting petition of Geo E Clancy & Others for a fire plug conrer of Fourth & Washington Streets. Adopted. From Same Comittee granting petition of Charles Clancy for permission to erect wooden building on Washington Street adjoining Clancy's Brick Building
