Petition to Extend City Limits of Seattle To the Honorable, the City Council, the Legislative Body of the said city of Seattle, hereby respectfully petition that the boundaries of the City of Seattle be altered and extended so as to include the new territory hereinafter described within the said City of Seattle after proceedings had as required by law, and that you submit to the electors of said city and to the electors residing in the said territory hereinafter described, the question whether said territory shall be annexed to said City of Seattle and become a part thereof. 37 Columbia June 12th, 1893 The Town Council met pursuant to adjournment Mayor C P Hutchinson presiding. Roll call and the following Councilmen present: Voland, Schade, Sullivan, Bond & Willacy. The minutes of the last meeting read and on motion approved. On motion the office of City Engineer was declared vacant. Motion made and carried to employ L C Woodman as engineer for the Town at a salary of $5.00 per day On motion the Superintendent of the [?] Water Works was instructed to clean out the stream above the reservoir. this contract and bond for the grading of Columbus St read and on motion accepted and signed. Motion made and carried to advertise for the construction of the sidewalk on Columbus St. The bids for the furnishing of 1700 of 3 in water pipe opened and the motion to accept the bid of P V Dwyer & Brosof wrot iron pipe at 22&1/2 cents per ft. cost. Motion made and carried to accept the bid of P V Dwyer & Bros for galvanized pipe at 31&1/2 cents pr ft. 56 Columbia Oct 2nd 1893 Town Council met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Hutchinson presiding. Roll call and the following Councilmen present, Sullivan, Voland & Willacy The minutes of the last meeting read and on motion approved. The engineer's report for the building of sidewalk on Columbus Street read, and on motion, the same laid on the table til next meeting, and warrants drawn for 70% of said estimate. the Engineer report for grading down to Angeline Street in the month of September read and on motion accepted and warrents ordered drawn for 70% of said estimates. Town Treasurer's report for the Quarter ending September 30 read and on motion accepted and placed on file. the Town Clerk's report for the Quarter ending September 30th 1893, read and on motion accepted and placed on file. Bill from the Grade Contractors of Columbus Street for balance due them on contract, read and ordered paid as soon as the 30 day limit had expired. Bills for the work done making culvert on Angeline Street read and the following warrents ordered drawn for the payment of smae A A Hepler $2.00, J C Huff $.88, H Bemis $2.00, J McCloud $1.35, D C Brownfor 35 lb nails, $1.75. Bill for barn rent, $1.75, presented by J C Huff, and the same withdrawn. Bill for L C Woodman for $10.00 engineers work done on Angeline Street read and on motion warrant drawn for payment of same. Bill from S H Clements for $12.50 as roadman on work done on Angeline Street made and on motion the same was cut down to $10.00 and a warrant ordered for payment of same. Bill for L C Woodman for $35.50 for work done on Angeline Street and on motion warrant ordered for payment of same. Bill from Columbia Home Co. for $7.50 for lumber furnished, read and on motionm warrant ordered for payment of same. Motion made and carried, that the minutes of the meeting held September 4th, be corrected to read as follows, towit: Motion made and carried that the engineer's report for work done by the Columbia Street Grade contractors be accepted and the council accept the Street as finished as far as the Grade Contractors is concerned. Motion made and carried to lay water pipe for Ferdinand Street along the Ally to the rear of the K of P Building the Lodge digging the ditch for the pipe.

59 Columbia Oct 2nd 1893 Town Council met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Hutchinson in the chair. The following Councilmen wee present, Sullivan, Willacy & Voland The minutes for the meeting of Oct 2nd were read and on motion approved. the record for Oct 9th 1893 showing no quorum was also read. L C Woodman city engineer submits a reprot certifyin therein that R Palmer has completed four hundred and two yards of bulkhead on his contract with the city according to contract and specification. On motion the report was accepted and warrants ordered to be drawn for 70% of said estimate. A communication fro the County Auditor showing the value of Real and Personal property around within the Corporate limits of the Town of Columbia and read. On motion the same was received and placed on file. His Hon the Mayor presented a request of Citizen Woodruff that Angeline Street crossings be made four feet in width instead of three. A motion was made by councilman Voland that we readvertize for bids for the construction of the sidewalks on Angeline Street specifiying therein that the crossings shall be four feet in width said bids to be opened on Monday Oct 23rd 1893. Said motion was duly seconded and carried and clerk ordered to post notices in accordance therewith The Rainier Avenue sewer question was informally discusse and on motion further consideration of it was postponed until the next meeting of the Council. On motionof CouncilmanWillacy it was ordered that sewer and Box 10x12 in the [?] constructed across Angeline Street next to the railway. On motion Council adjourned to meet Monday Oct 23 1893 approved Oct 23 1893 C P Hutchinson

89 Columbia July 2nd 1894 The Town Council met pursuant to adjournment Mayor Hutchinson presiding Roll call and the following councilmen present, McKay, Groat and Chase The minutes of the last meeting read and on motion approved. The Park committee report progress The Clerk's quarterly report read and motion approved and ordered placed on file. The Attorney's report progress on the road tax question. Motion made and carried to authorize the Attorney to make a formal demand on the County Commissioners for that part of the road tax belonging to the Town of Columbia. Motion made and carried to instruct the Treasurer to amke a quarterly report within the next ten days. A Communication received and read from H H A Hastings giving his opinion in regard to the legality of the claim filed against Angeline Street by J M Bemiss on motion the same was ordered placed on file. The following bills read and on motion warrants ordered drawn for payment of same. bill from L C Woodman for work on Angeline St $4.53 Bill from E L Hepler for lumber furnished and labor in Water works $18.95 Bill from H H A Hastings for legal work $40.00 Motion made and carried to draw warrants to pay the Clerk, Marshal & Attorney their quarterly salary. Motion made and carried to draw warrants for the payment of claims filed against Angeline Street A communication from the Engineer giving the cost of work on Angeline St that should be paid out of the General fund read and on motion ordered placed on file.
