Petition to Extend City Limits of Seattle To the Honorable, the City Council, the Legislative Body of the said city of Seattle, hereby respectfully petition that the boundaries of the City of Seattle be altered and extended so as to include the new territory hereinafter described within the said City of Seattle after proceedings had as required by law, and that you submit to the electors of said city and to the electors residing in the said territory hereinafter described, the question whether said territory shall be annexed to said City of Seattle and become a part thereof. The said new territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Seattle is particularly described as follows to-wit: Beginning at the point in the center of Lake Washington, which is the Northeast corner of the present limits of the City of Seattle; thence Northerly along the center of Lake Washington to an intersection with the south line of Section Sixteen, in Township Twenty-five, Range Four West, W.M., produced eastwardly; thence West in the waters of Lake Washington and Union Bay along said east line produced to the intersection with the east line of said Section Sixteen, produced southerly; thence North in the waters of Union Bay along said east line produced to the shore of said Union Bay, and thence North along the east line of said Section Sixteen and of Section No Nine in said Township and Range to the quarter-section on the east line of said Section Nine; thence West along the center line of said Section Nine to the quarter-section corner in the west line thereof; thence North along the east line lines of Sections Eight and Five in said Township and Range to the north line of said Township Twenty-five North; thence West along said Township line to the quarter-section corner in the north line of Section One, in Township Twenty-five North, Range Three East, which latter point is the Northeast corner of the present corporate limits of the town (now city) of Ballard; thence South along the center line of said Section One, and Sections Twelve and Thirteen in said township Twenty-five North, Range Three East to the Southeast corner of Government Lot 2, in said Section thirteen, said last-named line being the Easterly boundry of said City of Ballard; thence West along the South boundary of said City of Ballard to the center of Salmon Bay; thence Northwesterly following the present corporate limits of the City of Ballard along the center line of Salmon Bay to deep water in Puget Sound of Admiralty Inlet; thence West to the main channel of Puget Sound or Admiralty Inlet; thence southerly along said main to a junction with the main channel from Elliott Bay; thence Easterly and Southeasterly along the main channel of Elliott Bay to the point in the center of Elliott Bay, which is the Northwest corner of the present limits of the City of Seattle; thence Northeastwardly along the present Northwestern boundry of the City of Seattle to the intersection between the shore of said Elliott Bay and the west line of Section Twenty-four, in Township Twenty-five North, Range Three East; thence North, following the present boundary of the City of Seattle along said west line of said Section twenty-four to the quarter section corner in the west line of said Section Twenty-four; thence East, following the present boundary of the City of Seattle along the center line of said Section Twenty-four, and of Sections Nineteen and Twenty in Township Twenty-five North, Range Four East to the east line of said Section twenty; thence South following the present boundary of the City of Seattle, along the east line of said Section Twenty to the Southeast corner thereof; thence East following the present boundry of the City Seattle along the North line of Sections Twenty-eight and Twenty-seven in Township Twenty-five North, Range Four East, to the shore of Lake Washington; and thence Easterly in the waters of Lake Washington following the present boundary of the City of Seattle to the present Northeast corner of the limits of the City of Seattle and place of beginning, including all waters embraced within the boundaries above described. 1 E Goding 2 C N Driscoll 3 J W Spriggs 4 S McDean 5 S Palmer 6 Hugh McGuire 7 R M Crawford 8 W F Epler 9 C K Robinson 10 J B Vickers 11 Wm Clearson 12 Chester Eaton 13 Joh Ritter 14 Sighus Stanley 15 M T Powers 16 C Joycox 17 John Kelly 18 J A S Hamilton Bros 19 G A Thorn 20 Geo W Huffman 21 C Pephee 22 Wm Whiteline 23 G Werner 24 Wm Moran 25 G Slodinumski 26 C A Hekscriver 27 E C Harding 28 Chas Phillips 29 W S Turtle 30 J S Towle 31 A H Taylor 32 E Bryder 33 Rudolph Farmer 34 W C Coven 35 H S Gumdell 36 37 F S DeWolfe 38 G A Reid 39 J M Wheeler 40 B E Ralph 41 D J McKinney 42 R B Hurd 43 Frank C Wagenbach 44 S T Shut 45 W T Chuck 46 S D Hathaway 47 W J Gilbert 48 H H Ames 49 Thos A Linsley 50 A W Kuntz

445 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Apr 20 1888 Committee Reports Received From Street Committee on Harbor Master's report stating that the Committee had examined Washington Street Slip and ordered the necessary repairs made. Adopted. From same Committee granting petition of F S DeWolfe & others for widening Second Street and grading and building sidewalks on both sides of said street. from Battery Street to Depot Street and directing the City Surveyor to make plans and specifications therefor and submit them at the next regular meeting. On motion the report is ordered filed and action thereon postponed until the next regular meeting. From same Committee granting the petition of W H Shoudy & others for opening Thomas Street from Birch Street to the Bay. Adopted From same Committee on petition of Winsor & Co for planking on Front Street in front of the Rose Block that when Front Street is replanked the planking will be extended in front of said block. Adopted. From same Committee on petition of John Christ in regard to the Mill Street grade, recommending that piles be driven on block between South Fourth Street and South Fifth Street and planked on inside of said piles so as to keep earth from falling on Lot 8 Block 30 Maynard's Plat and the same will have to be done on the opposite side of the street to protect Mr Keezers property: and 1&1/4 inch iron rods put across street to secure the same. Adopted. From Committee on Fire and Water graanting petition of Engine Co No 4 for a steward for the engine house of said Co. provided the expense of such steward shall not exceed $15. pr month. Adopted. From same Committee rejecting petition of J R Kinnear and others for fire limits in Front St between Bell St and Lake Avenue as the Com does not think it advisible to establish same now. Adopted

529 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jul 6 1888 City of Seattle from Fifth to Thirteenth Streets and for constructing sidewalks on both sides of said Cherry Street" And no one appearing to contest said assessment rolls or either if them and no objection being made to them or either of them on motion said assessment Rolls as submitted by the clerk are approved. The owners of property benefited along the line of Second Street from Depot Street to Blanchard Street having filed a petition asking that F S DeWolfe be appointed an appraiser in their behalf, and the owners of property condemned having filed a petition asking that S E Clough be appointed an appraiser on their behalf now on motion duly made and seconded it is ordred that the said F S DeWolfe be and he is hereby appointed an appraiser to act in behalf of the owners of property benefited along the line of said Second Street. And that the said S E Clough be and he is hereby appointed an appraiser to act in behalf of the owners of property condemned or damaged along the line of said street: Whereupon his Honor the Acting Mayor appoints D T Denny esq an appraiser to act in the behlaf of the City in said matter. Ordered that the City Clerk issue a duplicate Road Fund Warrant in favor of R H Calligan for $40.50 in place of Warrant #2196 which has been lost upon said Calligan filing a proper bond with the city Treasurer.
