103 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE July29'82 Be it remembered that on this the 29th day of July 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council chamber pursuant to adjournment the following Officers are present to wit: Councilmen John Collins, M Densmore, Wm A Jennings, John Keenan and Charles McDonald. Thereupon the following proceedings are had: By reason of the absence of His Honor the Mayor L P Smith from the City, Councilman John Collins is appointed by the Council to the position of President of the council for the meeting And now the Special Committee to whom was referred the bids of all the Contractors for the Improvements to be done under Ordinances Nos 284,288 & 289 make their report That Chin Guan & Charlie are the lowest bidders on each & every of the improvements required by said Ordinances: Thereupon the report is accepted. whereupon it appearing to the Council that Chin Guan & Charlie are the lowest responsible bidders for the Improvements under each of said Ordinances & that they have reported their surities for such work to be Henry L Yesler, Moses R Maddocks, David T Denny, Robert Krupe & Robert Abrams & the Council finding siad surities to be responsible: It is ordered that each and every of the Contracts for said improvement be& is hereby awarded to said Chin Guan & Charlie upon their said bids. The vote upon said Order isa s follows: In favoe of said order Collins,Densmore Jennings, Keenan & McDonald. Against said order, none Ordered that the said Chin Guan & Charlie be required to furnish a bond for all of said improvements in the sum of $5000.00 Ordered that the Ordinance committee be & they are hereby instructed to submit a proper Ordinance, bond and contract for said Improvements Ordered that the Street Commission be & is hereby instucted to open the Alley in Block 2 of Maynard's plat Ordered that the Council stand adjourned attest: E S Osborne Clerk Approved, President of the Council

The assessment of Melody Choir on Block 16 Edes & Knights reduced on value of Lands to $2000.00 The assessment of Joseph Ade on Lot 1 Block 25 Denny's reduced on value of Lands to $3000.00 The assessment of Hulda B Young on Lots 1&4 Block 25 Boren's reduced on value of Lands to $600.00 The description of H A Smith on Lot 5 Blk 2 Boren's The assessment of Mrs E M McGilvra on Lot 1 Block G Denny's fixed at $600.00 on value of Lands The assessment of Almira Kidd on Lot 5 Block 4 Judkins's reduced on value of Lands to $250.00 & on Lot 4 Block 11 Judkin's reduced on Value of Lands to $250.00. The assessment of Henry L Yesler on Lot 2 Block 4 Boren's reduced on value of Lands to $8000.00 & on Lot 1 Block 4 Boren's reduced on Value of Lands to $11000.00. & on fraction of Lot 5 Block 1 Maynard's reduced on value of Lands to $10500.00 & 105 acres of land in Yesler's Donation Claim reduced on value of Lands to $42000. & on a tract of land fronting on Front & Mill Streets reduced on Value of Lands to $90000. 681 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 21 1885 Ordinances The city attorney now submits an ordinance entitled "an Ordinance Authorizing the Mayor & Clerk to execute a contact for the purchases of a Fire Alarm Bell" which after being duly considered is adopted by the following vote viz: In favor of such ordinance R H Calligan, J Furth, W A Harrington, Geo W Hall, John Keenen Chas McDonald, T W Lake & G W Young against none. An ordinance is submitted entitled "A Special Ordinance appropriating money to pay Audited Bills" which is adopted by the following vote: In favor of said ordinanceCalligan, Furth, Harrington, Hall, Keenen, Lake, McDonald & Young against none. A plat is presented to the Council entitled "The Public Benefit supplemental Plat" by Eshilman & Llewyellen City Surveyor. 686 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Sep 18 1885 Be it remembered taht on this the 18th day of September A D 1885 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council chamber pursuant to law. the following officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor Henry L Yesler & Councilmen R H Calligan, Jacob Furth, Geo W Hall, W A Harrington, John Keenen, T W Lake Chas McDonald and G W Young Where the following proceedings were had to wit: Petitions Petitions of John Collins et al praying that James Street be planked from its intersection withFront Street to Second Street; On motion of Councilman Furth the Clerk is instructed to insert Cherry Street also. and the petitionreferred to the Committee on Streets. Petition of W H Bow et al praying for a bridge on Lincoln Street North of Sixth Street. Rederred to Committee on Streets Petition of Fred Gasch et al for a sewer from Washington Street sewer through South 5th St to Mill St with necessary branches. Referred to Committee on Sewers & Drainage Petition of W C Hawthorne et al praying for Gas Lamps Corner of Madison and 5th, Madison and 6th and Madison and 7th. Referrd to Committee on Gas Lights Communication from D E Blaine offering to deliver lumber to the City in accordance with bid of E F Blaine guaranteeing that the hauling should not cost more there from any other Mill received and read, and on motion of Councilman Furth laid on the table. Communications from Allmond and Phillips offering to re-cast broken bell on tower of Engine House No 2 rec'd and read and referred to Committee of Fire and Water with authority to contract.
