94 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE The council proceeds to open the bids for the cleaning of the cemetery; the following bids have been received, viz, from B.F. Day for $180 per acre, J.H. Henry & J.M. Hoffman 600 for 2 acres, B.F. Lillie for $149 per acre, Patrick Forest $174 per acre, Walter France for $165 per acre. The bid of B.F. Lillie bring the lowest it is ordered that the contract be awarded to him at $149 per acre. Ordered that a warrant for $3250.00 be drawn on the fire fund in favor of John Collins, the proceeds to be used for the purchase of a new ground fire engine. And now in pursuance of notice duly published the council proceeds to the equalization of the special assessment polls under ordinance No 284, 281, and 276. No complaints being made against either of said special assessments it is ordered that they be and they are hereby accepted and approved. The Ordinance Committee are instructed to submit ordinances levying taxes in accordance with the provisions of ordinances Nos 284 and 281. The assessment roll under ordinance No 282, is laid over until next meeting of the council. Ordered that the council stand adjourned until Friday July 14th 1882. H. Manning et al for the opening of Third Street from Battery Street to Blanchard Street. Referred to the committee on Streets and Street Improvements From the Heirs at Law of Fred Slother Dec'd for the adjustment of sidewalk tax for Jackson Street sidewalk tax levy under Ordinance No. 283, Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. From Roswell Scott et al for an Ordinance prohibiting the wearing of bells on animals. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements From M Densmore et al for an Ordinance changing the Grade on Union Street from Front Street to8th Street and to have Union Street u-graded. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Impr -ovements. From Robert Kaupe et al for an Ordinance to construct side walks on both sides of Union Street from Front Street to the East side of Eighth Street. Referred to the Committee on Street and Street Improvement. From Geo Harlip for the right to erect a fish stand. Referred to the Committee on Streets And Street Imrpovements From W.R. Brawley et al for the opening of Washington Street from 10th to 11th Street, and for the opening of 11th Street from Washington Street to Main Street. Adopted on the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Collins, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald and Rasin. Against adoption none. From Judiciary and Legislative submitting an Ordinance entitled " To provide for the improvements of Second and Jackson Streets". Adopted on the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Collins, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald and Rasin. Against adoption none. From Judiciary and Legislative Comtee. submitting an Ordinace entitled "To provide for the construction of a sidewalk on the south side of Washington Street from a point 90 feet west of 3rd Street to Second Street". Adopted on the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Collins, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald and Rasin. Against adoption none. New Business And now the Policeman B.H. Calligan tenders his resignation as a member of the Police force to take effect as soon as his succesor is elected and qualified. Accepted.
