[Thousand Board Feet] A.S. Pinkham for $582.00 [Thousand Board Feet] Ordered that said bids be referred to the Street Committee And now in accordance with Ordinance No 294 and the Notice published thereunder, the Council proceeds to open the bids for the construction of the sidewalk on Stewart, 10th & Virginia Streets under Ordinance No 2811, which bids are as follows, to wit: D.S. Hill for $20.00 per B.M. [Thousand Board Feet] Hoole & Simpson for $23.00 per B.M. [Thousand Board Feet] A.S. Pinkham for $511.20 Ordered that said bids be referred to the Street Committee And now in accordance with Ordinance No 302 and the Notice published thereunder, the Council proceeds to open the bids for the construction of the sidewalk under said Ordinances which bids are as follows, to wit: D.S. Pinkham per M [Thousand] 18.29 New Business Ordered that the Clerk be and is hereby instructed to write proposals for work on gas lamps and mains. Ordered that the Report of the Gas Lights Committee on the matter of additional lights be adopted. Ordered that gas lamps be erected at the corner of Seneca and Front and Univesity and Front Streets. Ordered that a Committee on furnishing New City Engine House to consist of the Jail Comtee. and Clerk be and is hereby appointed. Ordered that the Chief of Police be and is hereby instructed to superintend the furnishing of the New City Jail. Ordered that in the future no claims be allowed by the Council unless such claims have been duly approved by written approval of the officer of the City who incurred the expense. Ordinances Received An Ordinance entitled "A special ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills". Adopted upon the following vote, towit: In favor of adoption Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, Manning and Rasin. Against adoption none. 183 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE be and are hereby granted until next meeting in which to report on the petition of A.S. Pinkham. Application for Licenses From Aug. LeBallister and Co. for Retail liquors granted. Ordered that the Legislative and Judiciary Committee be and they are hereby instructed to submit at next meeting an ordinance in reference to assesment levy and theit collection of taxes. Ordered that the City Surveyor be and he is hereby intructed to submit at next meeting plans and estimates for a custom of the corner of Marion and 3rd Street said estimates to show the cost of wood and brick customs. Ordered that the City Surveyor be and he is hereby instructed to submit at next meeting plans, specificatons and estimates for the planking of Commercial, South 2d, Jackson, Main, Washington, Mill and Front Streets. Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Friday December 15 1882. Attest: E S Osborne Clerk Approved John Collins Acting Mayor Be it remembered that on this the 15th day of December 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment.
