99 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE. July 20th, '82 Councilmen for the Second Ward Chas McDonald John Collins Fred Gash Councilmen for the Third Ward O. F. Casper G. L. Manning Ordered that the Council now stand adjourned until July, 28th, 1882 Attest: E S. Osborne, Clerk Approved L. P. Smith, Mayor July 28th, '82 Be it remembered that on this the 28th day of July, 1882 The Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in it's Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following Officers are present, to wit: His Honor the Mayor L. P. Smith and CouncilmenJohn Collins, M. Densmore, Wm A. Jennings, John Keenan, & Charles McDonald. Thereupon the following proceedings are had; A petition is received from John J McGilvra & Others praying for a sidewalk on the Street Between Cherry & Madison Streets Referred to the Street Committee. A petition is received from G. C. Phinney praying for the right to clear in Pine & 9th Streets of C.C. Terry's plat; Thereupon the same is laid over. A petition is received from Jacob Brunn regarding property on West street. Refered to Street Committee. And now the Finance Committee returns the report of the City Justice with their approval of the same. Report filed. The Street Comtee returns the petition of G. M. Bowman et al for the opening of Battery Street with recommendation that the same be granted. Thereupon the prayer of the petition is granted. And now come Frank Peters and Wm Grose and make their several applications & Bonds for retail liquor licenses for the period of 3 months from the dates Aug 10 & Aug 1st, respectively. 108 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Aug4/82 The report of the following officers are received and ordered placed on file, viz: Street Commissioner, Harbor Master, Fire Warden, City Justice, City Attorney Ordered that the clerk be and he is hereby instructed to advertise for bids for the furnishing of the City with the following articles for the ensuing year; viz: Lumber & Stationary; and for bids for lighting the gas lights, and doing the Printing of the City. Ordered that the Committee on Health and Police be aand they are hereby constituted a Board of Health. Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned. Aug 11/82 Be it remembered that on this the 11th day of August, 1882, the Common Council of the City of Seattle, meets in its council chamber pursuant to the call of the mayor and in accordance with ordinance No 292. Present his honor, the mayor, H.G. Struveand councilmen Charles F. Clancy, O.F. Cosper, Fred Gash, G.L. Manning, Charles McDonald and U.M. Rasin. Thereupon the following proceedings are had. A communication is received from the mayor relative to a defect in ordinance No 292, and is ordered filed. Against adoption,none The Claim of Stewart and Ebersold of $6.50 for for printing having beed duly audited is ordered paid by warrant drawn on the City Funds No153 And now come the persons hereinafter named and make application for the license hereinafter named from the dates and for the periods hereinafter specified and at the same time said applications file their several bonds in accordance with the ordinance relative thereto.
