128 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Sept 8/82 On this 8th day of September 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment The following Officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor H G Struve & councilmen John Collins, Fred Gasch & U M Rasin No quorum being present, Council adjourns until Monday September 11, 1882 at 7:30 o'clock pm Attest: E S Osborne clerk Approved H G Struve Mayor Sept 11/82 Be it remembered that on this 11th day of September 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment The following Officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor H G Struve and Councilmen John Collins, O F Cosper, Chas F Clancy, Fred Gasch, Charles McDonald, & U M Rasin Thereupon the following proceedings are had: Petitions received From W A Scott et al for the opening of the Mill Street from 8th to Williamson Street thence north to intersect Lake Street Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements Communications received From His Honor the Mayor recommending that the members of the Police Force be uniformed. Referred to the Committee on Health & Police Reports Received From the Surveyor submitting plans for the Washington Street Grade under Ordinance No 301 Reports of Committee received From Public Buildings Property and Grounds recommending that the rent of a certain tenement House belonging to the City be reduced to $10.00 per month Adopted

Petition of Puget Sound Improvement Company for permission to use a portion of Second & Columbia Streets and also a portion of Pike and Sixth Streets for building material, read and on motion granted. Petition of M Finkelstein for permission to make certain repairs to wooden building occupied by him on Mill Street between Commercial and South Second st read and granted providing the alterations are made inaccordance with the terms of the petition.

The following officers are present : Acting Mayor J Furth and Councilmen J M Frink, J Green, I W SakeT W Lake, Robt Moran, U R Neisz, R Russell & C F Reitze and W R Forrest Clerk, the following proceedings are had, to wit : Applications for License Refund Henry S Carlton & B.Kurz Comittee Reports Read. From Judiciary Committee on the petition of W. C. Hill for settlement by compromise of grade and other taxes recommending that a compromise be made. Report adopted and the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and the City Atty. Authorized to make a settlement with said Hill. From same committee on petition of W A Scott for damages occasioned by the change of the Mill Street grade, reporting that the committee is unable to see that Mr Scott has been injured and therefore reject his petition. Adapted. From Committee on License & Revenue stating that W McMasters has filed a new fund in the peace of the one from which W H Cowie withdrew.
