Sept 29/82 Be it remembered that on this the 29th day of September 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment The following Officers are present, to wit: His Honor the Mayor H. G. Struve and Councilmen John Collins, O. F. Cosper, Charles F. Clancy, Fred Gasch, Charles McDonald, G. L. Manning and U. M. Rasin Thereupon the following proceedings are had: Petitions Received From Robert Russell et al for the enforcement of ordinances No.s 236 and 155 licensing Vehicles. Referred to Committee on Lic -ences and Revenue. From Moses Keezer et al for a gas lamp corner Mill and Terrace Streets. Referred to Committe on Gas Lights. From F. X. Prefontaine for a gas lamp corner 4th and Washington Streets. Referred to Committee on Gas Lights. Remonstrances Received From W. C. Hawthorne et al against the proposed regrading of Union Street. Referred to the Committee on Public Buildings, Property and Grounds. Communications Received From City Surveyor recommending the changing of the gradeline on 2d Street between Mill and King Streets. Referred to Committee on Streets and Street Improvements From City Attorney submitting to amend ordinance No. 197. Reports of Committees received From Judiciary and Legislative Submitting an ordinance to amend Sections 2 & 3 of ordinance No 246 From Public Buildings, Property and Grounds on certain needed changes required in New City Engine House. Ordered that the matter be referred to said Committee with instructions to act in the premises & to report thereon at next meeting From Health and Police recommending that the Police Force be uniformed. Recommitted with instructions to submit proper style of uniform.

Adopted From Committee on Health and Police asking further time which to report on matter of Uniforms of Police Force.

From Judiciary and Legislative approving report of "City Justices" adopted From Judiciary and Leislative apporving City Attorney's report Adopted From Streets and Street Improvements recommending that the contract for sidewalk on Pine & 9th Streets under Ordinance No 281 be awarded to A S Pinkham on his bid of $582.80 Adopted & City Attorney instructed to prepare the proper bond & Contract From Streets and Street Improvements on the matter of the bids for grading Washington Street. Recommended with instructions to report in One Week. From Streets and Street Improvements recommendings that the contract for sidewalk on Front Street Under Ordinance No 304 be awarded to Hoole and Simpson on their bid of $17.75 per M feet BM [thousand board feet] Adopted and City attorney instructed to prepare proper contract and bond. From Streets and Street Improvements recommending that a contract for sidewalks on Stewart, 10th, & Virginia Streets under Ordinance No 280 be awarded to A S Pinkham on his bid of $511.00 Adopted and that the City Attorney is hereby hereby instructed to prepare the proper Contract and Bond From Streets and Street Improvements recommending that the contract for 7th Street sidewalk under Ordinance No 303 be awarded to J J McGilvra on his bid of $450.00 Adopted & City Attorney instructd to prepare the proper Contract & Bond. A Ordinance entitles "To amend Section 3 of ordinance No 246" Adopted upon the following vote to wit: In favor of adoption Collins, Cosper, Gasch, Manning & Rasin; against adoption none. An Ordinance entitled "To provide for the grading of a portion of Second and Jackson Streets" Laid over until next meeting An Ordinance entitled "To appropriate money to pay audited Bills" Adopted upon the following vote to wit: In favor of adoption Collins, Cosper, Gasch, Manning & Rasin. Against adoption none. Miscellaneous Orderred that the Judiciary and Legislative Committee be & they are hereby instructed to submit an Ordinance repealing Ordinance No 301 Ordered that the Judiciary and Legislative Committee be & they are hereby instructed to submit an Ordinance providing for sidewalks in both sides of Union Stret from the alley between 3d & 4th Streets to 8th Street. Ordered that the City Surveyor be & he is hereby instructed to order the Contractors for Improvements under Ordinances Nos 287, 288, & 289 to complete the grade on Union Streets, Front Street & that portion of 2d Street between Union & Pine Streets before proceeding with other grades.
