GOODHUE, F.H.HURD, JA[?] A. JAMES, A. KISTLER, FRANK N. LITTLE, Wm VOIGT, Mem bers of the Board of Aldermen and the House of Delegates.

GENTLEMEN: You and each of you will please take notice, that section V111, of Article XV111, of the Charter of the City of Seattle, adopted October, 1890, requires that you shall meet in Joint Convention at 7 o'clock P.M., today, March 6, 1896, for the purpose of canvassing the re-turns and declaring the result of the Municipal Election held March, 3, 1896.

425 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Apr 6 1888 wooden building corner Jackson and South Third Streets read and tabled. Petition of Leander Miller for correction of Assessment of Joel Miller read and referred to the Judiciary Committee. Petition of P Wickstrom and others for grading Eighth St. from Union Street to Mill Street read & referred to Street Com. Petition of W.N. White for permission to use powder in clearing and grubbing Fifth Street, read and granted provided the consent of all persons living within one hundred and twenty feet of where such blasting is to be done is first obtained and the contractor held responsible for all damages occasioned by such blasting. Communication from Dexter Horton & Co presenting claim for payment of certain street improvement warrants, read and referred to the City Attorney. Petition of John Krummer for permission to peddle a patented article without first obtaining a license, read and referred to Committe on License and Revenue. Communication of Charles F Reed offering to fill in South Second and Washington Streets read and referred to the Street Committee with power to act. Communication from John Christ in regard to piling in front of and filling in his lot on Mill Street read and referred to the Street Committee. Petition of Seattle Law Company for permission to put a sign post in front of Union Block at the outer edge of the sidewalk read and granted.

506 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE June 15 1888 Ordered that the matter of equalizing the assessment Roll for Third Street from Depot Street to Virginia Street postponed until Friday June 29th. Ordered that the Judiciary Committee in conjunction with the City Attorney submit an Ordinance regulating Hacks and rates of fare to be charged. Pursuant to law and published notice the Council now proceeds to the appointment of appraisers for South Eleventh Street, and it appearing that the property owners along the line of said South Eleventh Street have not made or filed any appointment of such appraisers either on behalf of the owners of property benefited or owners of property condemned. On motion H H Lewis is appointed by the Council to act as such appraiser on behalf of the owners of property benefited and Leander Miller is appointed to act as such appraiser on behalf of the owners of property condemned. Whereupon the Mayor appoints Fred E Sander to act as such appraiser on behalf of the City. Ordered that Smith's Supplemental Plat of Block 12 Burkes Second Addition to the city of Seattle be and the same is hereby approved. Ordinances An Ordinance is submitted by the City Clerk entitled "A Special Ordinance appropriating money to pay audited Bills" which is passed by the following vote. Ayes Frink, Green, Lake, Niesz, Russell & Reitze. Nays none. Ordered that the Council adjourn until Tuesday June 19 1888 Attest W R Forrest clerk
