KNOW ALL NOW BY THESE PRESENT That we George J. Apple and John S. Christy as principals and James H. Stevens and A. Maitland Sureties are held and firmly bound unto the City of Seattle County of King and State of Washington in the sum of Ninety One Dollars and Seventy Cents 91.70 good and lawful money of the United States for the payment of which well and truly to be made we bind ourselves our and each of our heirs executors and adminis trators jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and date this 27th day of March A.D. 1890 WHEREAS on the 14th day of March 1890 the Honor able City Council of Seattle King County, Washington aforesaid duly awarded to the above bounden George J. Apple and John. S. Christy principals a contract to furnish the materials and labor and to construct and set up complete the Steam Heating apparatus in the Fire Department Station on the Block bounded by Eleventh 11th Street Terrace Street and Broadway for the City of Seattle and for the sum of Nine Hundred and Seventeen Dollars 917.00 good and lawful money of the United States according to the plans and specifications prepared by W. A. Ritchie Architect and according to the terms stipulations provisions and conditions of that certain building contract entered into on the 27th day of March A.D. 1890 by the Mayor and City Clerk of Seattle on the part of said City of Seattle King County Washington and by the said George J. Apple and John S. Christy herein on their own part. -1-

Seattle Wash Jan 16th 1890

Geo W. Hall Esq Chr Police and Health Committee City of Seattle

Sir I propose to put in systems for heating Water at the City Jail as follows. Furnish and set up a Galvanized Iron Boiler Capacity 24 gallons set on substantial iron brackets provided with a copper or brass pipe coil perforated with small holes connected with steam direct to boiler also connected to cold water with draw cock for hot water extended into corridor all complete ready for use also furnish the following Firing tools also tools to keep the apparatus in good order

1 Iron Poker 1 Do Clinker rake 1 Tube cleaner with handle 1 12" Monkey wrench 1 10 Gas plyers

All complete for the sum of forty-five ($45.00) Dollars
