COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE

Jan 4/89 Be it remembered that on this the 4th day of January 1884 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to law.

The following Officers are present, towit: His Honor the Mayor H.G. Struve and Councilmen Thomas Clancy, B.F. Day, Charles McDonald, U. M. Rasin, Otto Ranke and F.W. Wusthoff.

Thereupon the following proceedings are had: Petitions Received From M.P. Church for draining surface water and building crossing. Referred to Street Committee. From Patrick Flynn et al for the removal of obstructions by south side of Washington Street between Commercial and 2d. Referred to Street Committee. From Chas Benson for compensation for damages caused by blasting on Madison Street. Referred to Judiciary Committee. From W.C. Hawthorne et al for a gas lamp corner Union and 6th. Granted. From Seattle Hook and Ladder Co. No. 1 for a room in which hold Company meetings. Granted. From Geo. F. Gilson et al for changing grade on Battery Street. Referred to Street Committee. From A.C. Baker for compensation for sidewalk built on Columbia Street. Referred to Street Committee. From Jonah E. Seaman for compensation for loss of horse by falling. Referred to City Attorney. From N. John Ronberg for correcting error in assessment. Referred to Finance Committee. From J. Schram and Co. for removal of obstructions from alley between Commercial and 2d. Referred to Street Committee. From Julia Carleton for refunding license money paid. Referred to License Committee. The Mayor calls attention to the matter of Mrs. Ingraham's petition for refunding taxes paid. Ordered that the Finance Committee be and they are hereby instructed to make immediate examination of the matter.

637 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Ordered that the following named persons be notified to appear to answer questions regarding thier assessments on Thursday evening May 21st at 8 o'clock pm towit: Geo W Crane, Stetson & Post Mill Co, James Dougan, Lucinda M Ballard, Fred E Sander A E Hanford, Joseph W Phillips, John Collins & Chas Benson Ordered that the petitions of G M Haller & G O Haller be & they are hereby rejected Ordered that the Council Stand now adjourned until Thursday May 21, 1885 at 8 o'clock pm. Be it remembered that on this the 21st day of May 1885 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment The following officers are present towit: His Honor the Mayor John Leary and Councilmen Geo F Frye, W A Harrington, Alfred Snyder, E F Sox, W G Latimer, W V Rinehart & S D Crockett Therupon the following proceedings are had: And now the Council proceeds with the examination and equalization of the Assessment Roll for the year 1885 Ordered that the following changes be made on said roll towit: Stetson & Post reduced on Mortgage $1240. John Collins reduced on Mortgage $120. Joseph W Phillips reduced on Mortgage $420. Chas Benson reduced on Mortgage $200. Lucinda M Ballard reduced on Mortgage $2000. Geo W Crane reduced on mortgage $420. D T Denny on certain lands reduced to $50. per acre Sarah B Yesler on certain lands reduced to $50. per acre Thos Burke reduced on Mortgage $49550. Henrietta M Haller reduced on Mortgage $1500. G O Haller reduced on Mortgage $680. Est of James Osborne Dec'd reduced on Mortgage $1920. R H Denny reduced on Mortgage $870.
