Seattle, Wash 10 February 1893. To His Honor the Mayor and City Council. We the undersigned property owners abutting on Barclay Street petition as follows: That said Barclay Street shall be henceforth called Remington Avenue to conform with the name of that street in the Squire tract addition to Lewis Street said Barclay Street being merely a continuation of Three blocks of that street known now as Remington Avenue Said Remington Avenue to commence at Broadway Street

205 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Feb 2/82 From Clerk Adopted From Treasurer, Referred to finance comtee From Street Commissioner, adopted From Fire Warden Adopted Committees Reports Rec'd From finance recommending that the Tresurer be instructed to proceed forthwith to collect all taxes on tax rolls for Pine & 9th and Stewart, 10th & Virginia Streets sidewalks. Adopted From Health & Police on the matter of T J Small Policeman. reporting that said T J Small at the time of his appointment as such Policeman was not eligible to such office. Adopted & office declared vacant. From Streets recommending the establishment of the grade within the districet bounded by Pine, 7th, Mill & Broadway Streets. Adopted From Streets reporting that the cribbing fronting the Colman & Denny Blocks on [Front Street]] is in a dangerous condition. Ordered that the Street Committee be & they are hereby instructed to take some inmmediate measures so as to prevent the said cribbing from giving way. Ordered that the surveyor be & he is hereby instructed to submit plans, specifications & Estimates for a stone wall to front said blocks in place of said cribbing. from Gas Lights recommending the erection of gas lamps corners if 3rd & Marion & 4th & Marion Streets adopted From Committee on Jail Building recommending the acceptance of the Engine House in South 3rd Street Laid over until next meeting From Finance approving the Surveyors report of work done on 2d, 3rd, & intersecting Streets grades. Adopted Claims Paid The following Claims having been duly audited by the Council are ordered paid by Warrants drawn on the funds

277 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE June 4/83 And now the Special committee on bids make their report on the bids for the 8th Street Improvement & recommend that the contract be awarded to P Quigley & Co upon filing a proper bond in the sum of $2000.00 Adopted & contract so awarded. And now the Special Committee on bids make their report on the bids for the Improvement of the Alley West of Front Street & recommend that the contract be awarded to S G Simpson upon filing a proper bond in the sum of $600.00 Adopted & Contract so awarded. And now the Special Committee on bids make their report onthe bids for the Improvement of Columbia Street & recommend that the contract be awarded to Cummings & Strong upon filing a proper bond in the sum of $6000.00 & executing a contract for such improvement as far east at 12th Street instead of Broadway Street. Adopted And now the Special Committee on the assessment Roll for Pike Street Improvement under Ordinance No 375 make their report that the said roll is correct, thereupon the Council funding the said roll to be correct. It is ordered that said assessment roll be & is hereby approved. Referred to Street Comtee Communications Rec'd From Surveyor submitting an estimate of the cost of planking foot of Marion Street Committee Reports Rec'd From Fire Comtee rejecting the petition of Lowman & Cobb et al of an Ordinance preventing the firing of fire crackers. Adopted From Cemetary Comtee submittins a propsal of the City Sexton to remove bodies from Odl Cemetary. Ordered filed Licenses Ordered Issued Ordered that license be issued as follows to wit: Frank Lessman for Grocery license for 3 months from July 13 1884 Shaw & Alger for Retail license for 3 months from July 9 Weir & Love for Retail license for 3 months from July 10 John McCary for Retail license for 3 months from July 16 Ordinances The atty submits an Ordinance entitled "For the improvement of a portion of Fifth Street" after due consideration said ordinance is adopted upon the following vote to wit: In favor of adoption Day, Harris, McDonald, Northrup, Ranke, Rasin & Wusthoff Against adoption none The Atty submits an Ordinance entitled "To amned Sections 4 and 5 of Ordinance No 246 entitled 'an ordinance fixing the pay fees and compensation of the city officers of the City of Seattle'" After due consideration said ordinance is adopted upon the following vote to wit: In favor of adoption Day, Harris, McDonald, Northrup, Ranke, Rasin Wusthoff Against adoption none The Atty submits an Ordinance entitled "For fixing the rate of Levy and
