489 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE June 6/84 Miscellaneous

Ordered that the Street Commission be & is hereby instructed to report why the alley in Block 107 of D T Denny's plat has not been opened. Ordered that the new plat of "Lakeside addition to the City of Seattle'' be & is hereby approved & that the Attorney be & is hereby instructed to submit an Ordinance vacating the old plat. A motion to instructed the Attorney to submit an Ordinance appropriating $1088.00 from 4th Street Grade Fund to pay claim of I N Bigelow et al is lost upon the following vote, to wit: In favor of said motion Clancy, Keenen, McDonald & Rasin against the same Day, Harris, Northrup, [Ranke]], & Wusthoff Ordered that the Plans & Specification for the Improvement of Bell Street under Ordinance No 555 be & is hereby approved Ordered that Street Commissioner be & is hereby nstructed to open Alder and 8th Streets. Ordinances An Ordinance is submitted entitled "A special ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills" Adopted upon the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Clancy, Day, Harris, Keenen, McDonald, Northrup, Ranke, Rasin & Wusthoff Against the same none. An Ordinance is submitted entitled "To determine the terms of the members of the Common Cuncil who will be elected at the Annual election to be held July 14th, 1884" After due consideration said ordinance is adopted upon the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Clancy, Day, Harris, Keenen, McDonald,Northrup, Ranke, Rasin & Wusthoff Against the same none. 493 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE June17/84 mant the Council meets pursuant to call of the acting Mayor U M Rasin for special business Present: His Honor the acting mayor Councilman U M Rasin & Councilmen Thos Clancy, B F Day, John Keenen, Chas McDonald, B L Northrup, Otto Ranke & F W Wusthoff. Thereupon the following proceedings are had: And now the Street committee recommend that adoption of the remonstrance of James Mc Naught et al-v-Cherry Street Grade Adopted And now the Street Comtee recommended that grading of 5th Street from Union to Vine Adopted & Attorney instructed to submit an Ordinance therefor. Ordered taht a Contract be executed between the City & owners of property on Columbia Street between Front Street and the alley between Front & 2d for the grading of said portion of Columbia Street. Licenses Ordered Issued Orders that licenses be issued as follows towit: Geo Nadau for retail for 3 months from June 7 Blanchard & Co for wholesale for 3 months from June 12 Blanchard & Co for retail for 3 months from June 12 Fuhrman & Co for retail for 3 months from June 13 John Schaer for retail for 3 months from June 12 Mark Gottstein for wholesale for 3 months from June 17 James Peddie for retail for 3 months from June 13 Murphy & Co for retail for 3 months from June 12 Emil Davidson for retail for 3 months from June 13 F Claus for retail for 3 months from June 16 A claim ispresented be Jesse W George & I N Bigelow for damages caused by overflow of sewer upon Lots 2, 3 & 4 Block 18 Maynard's plat in the sum of $900.00. Rejected A statement is rec'd from the clerk showing cost of Madison Street extension. Condemnation proceedings & fixing levy at 41&6/10 mills on the Dollar. Attorney instructed to submit the necessary ordinance. Consideration of Ordinances.
