45 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jul 22 1886 Be it remembered that on this 22th day of July 1886 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to Law. The following officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor H L Yesler and councilmen R H Calligan, J Furth, T W Lake, J J Post and G W Young; when the following proceedings were had to wit: Election Returns And now the Council proceeds to canvass the returns of the general Election for City Officers for the City of Seattle on the 12th day of July 1886, with the following esult, to wit: Whole number of votes cast - 2410 For Mayor A A Denny received 1178 votes For Mayor Wm Shoudy received 1221 votes For Chief of Police S W Scott received 1083 votes or Chief of Police Wm Murphy received 1233 votes For Chief of Police Doc Mitchell received 6 votes For Chief of Police J H Woolery received 1 vote For City Attorney C H Hanford received 1083 votes For City Attorney Fred H Peterson received 1287 votes For City Attorney Patsey Carroll received 2 votes For City Attorney U M Rasin received 2 votes For City Attorney J H Lewis received 1 vote For Councilmen for the First Ward for a two year term J M Frink received 371 votes U M Rasin received 109 votes G W Young received 1 vote R H Calligan received 5 votes R Russell received 1 vote C F Reitze received 2 votes L MIller received 1 vote
