Am going on another hike beginning on the 18th of August, for about two weeks, Maine this time, up as far as Portland and then wherever the fancy hits us. Hahny, Peggy, Ruth and me. The first three are fighting already and I stay neutral and laught at them, speaks well for the trip. Ruth wants to rule the roost, Peggy is stubborn, Hahny has a bit of temper at them both and comes to me with her troubles, and I, having had experiences with hikes, tell them all that they will learn many things on the trip, its funny. We are going to camp out at night again, hope it will

it's too upsetting to those who can't, although the poor things thought they were completely concealed behind a clam shell.

Today I went to Pelham, New York and spent a very hot and rainy day with Mrs. Arthur, also made a date with her to got to Europe next summer. Had a wonderful dinner.

I can't tell you any particulars about the trip to Maine, for there aren't any to tell. We leave next Saturday, and our first objective is Boston, along the Boston Post Road, then to Portland, Maine, then just anywhere we feel like going, planning to be gone two weeks, we haven't any map yet, and won't need any

If I were of a jealous disposition I'd never dare marry a good looking doctor, you know what women are! I'm sorry for you Sned when you start in practice, maybe I'll be sorry for myself, time will tell.

We are taking fishing material along with us on this trip as there are many lakes in Maine and we may be in need of nourishment. We go almost past Mrs. Arthur's house on the way from New York, just one block from there, only I

Dear Sned: -

Here I sit waiting for the coffee to boil in the bedroom of a country hotel, forty miles from Rangeley Lakes, [are - crossed out] our destination, when [whe - crossed out] we start home again. The other two are enjoying the luxury of hot baths (I've had mine).

I'm so cold I can't think or write, we are up in the mountains of Maine, there is frost on the ground and it is too cold to sleep out, until we get further south again, and we expect to get to Rangeley today, spend all day tomorrow there and fish etc., then home again. Haven't we herve to get hundreds of miles away form home with not enough money between us to take all of us home by train, and quite

chicken over a fire out in the woods, had corn and roasted sweet potatoes, tasted fine.

Today we picked blueberries by the handful beside the road as a rest from walking, also blackberries and raspberries. Living expenses are not high. Tomorrow we continue our journey and will leave Maine for behind us, as we are only thirty miles from the state line of New Hampshire, we cross that state, also Vermont and half of N.Y. then we are at Lake George, then down to Albany and home. I'll be so glad to get there as I want a letter from my Sneddie, I could make the whole trip at one clip without stopping just to get there quicker, but I have to consider the feelings of the other two, who have nothing to look forward to at
