341 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 24/83 From the Fire Comtee recommending an appropriation of $300.00 be made & paid to Seattle Hook & Ladder Co No 1 to apply towards liquidating their indebteness for apparatus. Adopted & attorney is instructed to prepare a proper ordinance. From the Street comtee asking that the Ordinance submitted by J B Metcalf for a Street Railway franchise be taken up for consideration by the Council. Adopted & such ordinance laid over for special consideration the first Friday in September next. From Street Comtee rejecting thepetitionof John Angels et al for the use of the foot of Columbia Street. Adopted petition denied. From Street Comtee recommending that the grades be estblished onVine Street from Water Street to 5th Street. Blanchard Street from Front Street to the alley between 5th and 6th Street and Bell Street from Front Street to 6th Street. Adopted and Surveyor is hereby instructed to submit the proper elevations. FromStreet Comtee recommending that the grade be established onFifth street from Pine Street to the City Limits North. Adopted & surveyor is hereyb instructed to submit the proper elevations. From Street Comtee asking that the Ordinance submitted by Lewis et al for a Street railway franchise be taken up for consideratin by the Council.Adopted & suchordinance is laid over for special consideraton the first Friday in September next. From Street Comtee recommending that the Ordinance submitted by the "Seattle Street Railway Co." for a street railway franchise be taken up for special consideration by the council. Adopted & such Ordinance is laid over for special consideration the first Friday in September next. From Harbor & Wharves Comtee submitting the folowing report to wit: To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council of the City of Seattle Gentlemen, Your Committee on Harbor and Wharves to whom was referred the petition of Columbia and Puget Sound Railroad Company beg to recommend that the City grade , fill in or wharf out as maybe found necessary Main Street from its intersection with Commercial Street the west line of Blocks 7 and 3 Maynard's plat of the City of Seattle in accordance with grade. Nov. 2 '83 In favor of adoption Clancy, Day, McDonald, Rasin, Ranke & Wusthoff. Against adoption none. Ordered that the Attorney be & is hereby instructed to submit an Ordinance to fix the salary of the Fire Warden at $150 a year

Miscellaneous Ordered that the Treasurer by & is hereby requested to pay all warrants in favor of street laborers out of any monies not otherwise appropri-ated. From the Seattle Street Railway Co. for the right to construct a street Railway along Madison from Front to the city limits & along Mill & West Streets. Referred to Street Committee. From George Kinnear et al for a gas lamp corner 3rd & Spring Streets. Referred to Gas Committee. From Geo. R. Smith et al for a fish stand foot of Washington Street. Denied

549 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Oct 13/84 satisfied. Referred to Street Comtee A Resolution from the Chamber of Commerce is rec'd asking for the planking of Commercial & Front Streets. Laid on the table From John Shepich for changing location & name of saloon from the "Eureka" saloon on Washington Street to the "Cosmopolitan Saloon" on South 3rd Street. Granted From D.T. Denny et al for the condemnation of property for a street from the end of Rollin Street at Depot Street to Fifth Street near Pine Street. Referred to Street Comtee From Cummings & Strong for an extension of time on James Street Grade until Jan. 1, 1885. Granted Reports Rec'd From Surveyor reporting that the time for completing the Fifth Street Grade had expired. Referred to Street Comtee From Street Comtee recommending the passage of an Ordinance granting certain rights of Way to Seattle Street Railway Co.
