1849 Jany 1st striping Tobacco in middle barn good striping day
2nd Striping in second & finished 9 O clock in night what we had down
3rd cloudy & like for Rain or snow Halling wood & burning little Plant Bed in new ground Brot Home berkshire yesterday & he is gonefound him in Pasture & hes not gone this morning
4th Shelled corn & carried 5 Bus corn to mill & 1 stack for Palingin we have 3 Large Logs at mill for Palings. Cutting in new ground big growth in little new ground — Sewed little Plant Bed in new ground this day weather fair & clear Halling up a stack Oats 2 days ago
5th Very cold clear & windy Cutting in new ground all hands
6 Halled out 1 stack wheat straw yesterday cutting in new ground big growth,went to Mr. Lewis to get him on Tuesday next to act as referee in Jas East Rent matter about Tobacco Lots & also E Fitzgerald very cold & windy this day
7 weather moderated cloudy & like for Rainsnowor
8 Still cloudy & like for snow, my wife & Lucy Ann clement went to Riceville yesterday 7 to get Lucy Anns tooth Extracted Cutting big growth in new ground Henry sick in house. cold
9th Ground covered with snow not very 5 or six snows to this time not deep cleared off in evening.

1849 Jany 16 Cutting little growth in new ground & expect to get done to day at 12 Hall up leaves etc etc etc — Mr. Myers came again this morning
18 Yesterday striped Tobacco & finished middle House began to mall & stacking wood & Halling leaves & Oats to feed with, weather cooler Distrain on Jas East for Mrs Coleman Rent this day —
19 Stacking wood in big new ground Halling wood & malling in little new ground. weather clear & Cool
20 Halling wood for Mr Neal malling & stacking wood in new ground weather cloudy & Cool like for snow. began to Rain & freeze about 10 Oclock in day - & stoped workhalled for Mr Neal all day at home Henry
21st Raining this this morning smart sleet,
22 Took down new ground Tobacco this morning stacking wood taking down Lugs at mountain field Henry gone to mill 1 Log 7½ Bus Corn & get Palings weather clear & good for season —— got no Palings 4 Logs there -
23rd fine day clear & moderate morning Malling & stacking wood

25 Finished large one & about small one fine weather

1849 Jany 26 Finishing Plant Beds above House sewing& Fencing covering etc - cloudy & like for Rain — weather warm — 1 Bed Large one 15 yds Square & the other 11 yds Square
27th Cutting Large growth in new ground & Halling Rails for Corn field fence, James East relinquished his Lease of Hill field Plantation this & its rented to AW Worshom & Thos East Junr son of Thomas East

31 Loaded waggon with Lugs & started to Lynchg about 10 Oclock wednesday & got back Friday night about 1 Oclock in night made trip in 2½ days sold Lug at 1-60,- carrd nearly 1000 lbs while we were gone made little new ground fence Halled wood, & making up out side corn field fine weather cleared off last night tho it has been cloudy & Rainy all the week, nearly

8 Have 5 Logs at mill only brot home one Rolled Logs in Little new ground after 12 oclock, put up about 6 or 7 heaps & card out the wood malled before Rolling swingling flax Lila
